Abstract: Systems, methods and computer program products may provide software installation on a computer in a computer system. A software installation method may include installing at a server in a computer system a first files package including computer program files for a first software application, the computer system including at least a first computer installed with a first configuration package, the first configuration package including files necessary to configure and register the first software application, receiving a request at the server from the first computer for access to the first files package, and making the first files package available for use by the first computer.

Block addresses are maintained in the buffer and are streamed to the client in response to a request for the addresses to support a read or write operation. The quantity of addresses maintained in the buffer may be dynamically adjusted in response consumption of addresses for read and write operations.

Abstract: Extensions are provided to a lock for supporting concurrency of read and write operations of a shared resource in a computer system. Both reader and writer modes are maintained. In addition, an append mode and a prefix mode are provided. The append mode supports non-exclusive access to the shared resource while enabling modification of the shared resource after a marker. The prefix mode supports non-exclusive access to read the shared resource prior to the marker. Lock mode requests to the shared resources are mediated to ensure compatibility of granted lock modes with lock mode requests.
