  • Publication number: 20140171057
Abstract: A system, method and apparatus for creating and implementing a privacy zone around a mobile object are described herein. A privacy zone is a geographic location proximate to a mobile object in which mobile device functionality is reduced when a mobile device is inside the boundaries of the privacy zone. A locator subsystem tracks the location of the mobile object to update the location of the privacy zone. Further, the locator subsystem monitors for mobile devices that may interface with the privacy zone. Once a mobile device is found to be within a privacy zone, the pre-determined mobile device features will preferably be disabled.

  • Publication number: 20140162676
Abstract: A first network device in a network, such as an LTE network, configured to establish a default bearer between a node and the first network device. The first network device may transmit a first communication type between the first network device and the node over the a default bearer and receive a service request requesting the establishment of a dedicated bearer for the transmission of a second communication type between the first network device and the node, the service request requesting that the dedicated bearer have a quality of service higher than the quality of service of the default bearer. The first network device may transmit the second type of communication between the first network device and the node over the default bearer, establish the dedicated bearer, and then switch the transmission of the second type of communication from the default bearer to the dedicated bearer.

  • Publication number: 20140162663
Abstract: Management of a network may be accomplished by adjusting timer settings and/or retry criteria. For example, communications and management from an end-to-end perspective of entities in a network may be conducted; timers and/or retry criteria may be adjusted dynamically based on network traffic load; timers and/or retry criteria may be adjusted dynamically based on overload conditions; feedback mechanisms may be implemented to allow downstream network elements to inform upstream network elements about the health status and/or load condition of the network; and/or differentiated timer and retry criteria/mechanisms may be implemented.

  • Publication number: 20140159913
Abstract: A network includes a supervisory sensor in communication with a wireless network and a non-supervisory sensor in communication with the supervisory sensor, wherein the non-supervisory sensor communicates with the wireless network through the supervisory sensor. The supervisory sensor may be configured to receive downloads from a server communicating through the wireless network and to collect data from the non-supervisory sensor. The supervisory sensor may be configured to transmit the collected data to a server on the wireless network. Moreover, the non-supervisory sensor and the supervisory sensor each have an active state and an inactive state and wherein the supervisory sensor may be in the active state while the non-supervisory sensor is in the inactive state.

  • Publication number: 20140162684
Abstract: LTE advanced location-sensitive information management may include receiving, by a server, location information corresponding to a location of a device that is remote from the server. The server may receive identification information corresponding to a user of the device. The server may organize the location information based on the identification information. The server may receive a list of one or more intended recipients. The server may recommend, based on the identification information, a first time duration during which to expose the location information to the one or more intended recipients. • Publication number: 20140140270
Abstract: A front end processing unit may be configured in a radio access network (RAN) and may determine a particular RAN component to use to provide transport for incoming communications. The front end processing unit may determine criteria for the communication and select an appropriate RAN component based on the criteria for communicating with the user mobile device originating the communication. In an embodiment, a higher service level capable user device that transmits a communication to a higher service level RAN component may be instructed to communicate with a lower service level RAN component for transport of the communication where it is determined that the communication does not warrant the use of higher service level network resources. Front end processing unit functionality may be integrated into individual RAN components, such as a base transceiver station, a Node B, and an eNode B, rather than being performed by a separate device.

  • Publication number: 20140029439
Abstract: A network monitoring and configuration device may be configured in a network to receive condition data from devices across the network in order to perform network-wide reconfiguration to improve the service provided by the network. By analyzing data received from across the network regarding device utilization, link utilization, and other conditions, the network monitoring and configuration device may determine whether and how to redirect traffic, adjust delivery requirements, and re-provision network resources to improve service or avoid future service degradation. The network monitoring and configuration device may also receive data from external sources, such as emergency services providers, and use such data to further determine whether and how to configure the network.

The content of the media is analyzed to determine an appropriate advertisement to be inserted into the media content. For example, the advertisement may be a pizza commercial inserted into media that is popular among college age individuals. The content of the media may be further analyzed to determine an appropriate position within the media to insert the advertisement. For example, the pizza commercial may be inserted after a scene in which the characters are eating. Another example may be the insertion of a dating service commercial in a movie immediately following a dating scene in the movie.

  • Publication number: 20140004815
Abstract: Notifications regarding data usage may be transmitted to mobile devices based on a threshold of data usage determined from a profile associated with the device. Upon receiving a request for service from a mobile device, a network device, such as a policy and charging rules function (PCRF) device, may determine a current bandwidth usage for the device and obtain a profile associated with the device. The network device may determine a threshold of data usage for the mobile device from the profile and determine whether the mobile device has met the threshold. If so, a notification may be transmitted to the mobile device indicating that the threshold has been met.

  • Publication number: 20140003337
Abstract: A core network device may be configured to work with a radio access network device to determine whether to allow access to a network. Criteria that may be used to make the determination include the condition of devices and links within the core network and the radio access network, which may be determined by data received from other devices at the core network device. In another embodiment, the type of service requested, for example whether the request is for an IMS service or non-IMS service, may be used to evaluate whether the a request for access to the network should be permitted.
