At least a portion of a customized hierarchical claim management graphical user interface system is generated based on at least a portion of the retrieved third party claim data and the executed one or more customized claim management operations.

Abstract: A claim is processed and categorized prior to the assignment of a claims adjuster. The probability that the total amount of medical charges submitted for a claimant within a certain period of time following the date of loss will be below a certain threshold based on a small set of input variables. The input variables and prediction may be communicated to a claims management systems via web service. The claims management system that receives the prediction may be independent of the claims categorization system itself. That is, the user interface to gain access to the claims processing described herein may be independent of the claims processing itself. The prediction is achieved with analysis models that are configured to easily accommodate changes in the input parameters for the model.

Abstract: A computing device of a user, including a processor, a memory, an electronic organization application comprising software instructions stored in memory and executed on the processor to store a plurality of activities associated with the user, and a rewind application configured to interact with the electronic organization application and including software instructions stored in memory and executed on the processor to present at least one question associated with each of the plurality of activities stored in the electronic organization application, receive a response to the at least one question, determine whether each of the plurality of activities is of a predetermined category based on the response received to obtain a subset of the plurality of activities, and store, in a repository, data associated with the subset of the plurality of activities for use in a financial application.

Abstract: A tax refund amount is determined or received at an intermediate computer operably connected to tax authority and user computers. The user computer and a tax preparation program are used to prepare an electronic tax return and determine the refund amount. Accounts that are available to receive a portion of the refund are identified and selected. A determination regarding how the refund can be allocated to selected accounts is made. The refund is transferred from the tax authority to the intermediate computer, and respective portions of the refund are transferred from the intermediate computer to respective selected accounts based at least in part upon a determined or selected allocation to increase the value of the refund, e.g., due to interest rates of selected accounts, compared to the refund value determined with the tax preparation program.

The invention comprises obtaining, by an intermediary system, tax information associated with a taxpayer, wherein the tax information comprises an expected refund amount; obtaining an issued refund amount associated with the taxpayer; comparing the expected refund amount and the issued refund amount; determining, based on the comparing, a discrepancy amount; obtaining, in response to determining the discrepancy amount, a discrepancy code associated with the issued refund amount; retrieving, from a discrepancy code database, a discrepancy information record using the discrepancy code, wherein the discrepancy information record indicates a source of the discrepancy amount; generating a discrepancy explanation using the discrepancy information record, the discrepancy amount, and the tax information; and sending the generated discrepancy explanation to a client system.

Abstract: Systems, methods and articles for online computerized methods and systems for facilitating a loan between a borrower and a lender in a financial services system having a loan processing application integrated with a tax return preparation application, in which a lender's tax refund is used to fund the loan. Tax returns are prepared for borrowers and for lenders using the tax return preparation application. The borrowers submits loan request to the system. The system asks lenders having a tax refund if they would like to loan the tax refund to other people and the system presents loan options to the lenders. If a lender likes a loan request, the lender instructs the system to enter into a loan for the request for a specified amount on agreed to loan terms, and the loan amount is then transferred to the borrower, funded by the tax refund.

Abstract: A method for managing charitable donations of a donor. The method includes receiving donation information associated with a charitable donation of a donor from a browser extension of a browser application, where the browser application is executing on a user system associated with the donor and where the browser extension obtains the donation information independent of web content presented in the browser application. The method further includes receiving a request for the donation information from a tax preparation entity. The method further includes in response to the request, sending the donation information to the tax preparation entity, where the donation information is used by the tax preparation entity to generate tax documentation for the donor.

A given individual's actual financial transaction data is then compared with other individuals that are determined to be similarly situated with the given individual. The given individual is then provided one or more graphical displays and/or data displays showing a comparison between the given individual's own financial data and/or position and the average financial data and/or position of similarly situated individuals.

Abstract: A portable computing device associated with a user for tracking mileage in a motor vehicle, including a processor, a memory, a global positioning satellite (GPS) module configured to determine a physical location of the portable computing device, a tracking application stored in the memory of the portable computing device, wherein the tracking application is configured to activate based on a movement of the portable computing device, determine whether a threshold speed is reached by the portable computing device, record a number of miles traveled by the portable computing device in the motor vehicle to obtain tracking data, and display the tracking data for reconciliation by the user, wherein the tracking application determines physical locations of the user using the GPS module, wherein reconciling data includes indicating which tracking data is business related, and wherein the recorded mileage is configured to be downloaded into a financial application.
