  • Publication number: 20220154041
Abstract: A process is disclosed for preparing a pressure sensitive adhesive hydrogel. The process (A) provides an oligomeric precursor, the oligomeric precursor comprising a polyether moiety endcapped with ethylenic unsaturation, the oligomeric precursor being associated with methacrylic acid; (B) provides an ethylenically unsaturated crosslinking agent selected from the group consisting of difunctional ethylenically unsaturated monomer, difunctional ethylenically unsaturated monomer and combinations of the foregoing; (C) provides a thiol; and (D) free radically curing a mixture of the oligomeric precursor, the ethylenically unsaturated crosslinking agent, and the thiol in water in the presence of the methacrylic acid at a pH between about 3.5 and about 9 to provide the pressure sensitive adhesive hydrogel.

  • Publication number: 20220040369
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to an article that includes a conformable backing having first and second opposed major surfaces. The conformable backing can be formed from a thermoplastic polymer selected from a group consisting of polyurethanes, polyesters, and combinations thereof. The conformable backing has a tensile strength of no greater than 60 grams per centimeter force at 25% elongation in a machine direction according to the Tensile and Elongation Test Method. A hydrophobic adhesive can be disposed on a portion of the first major surface of the conformable backing. The hydrophobic adhesive includes a cationic, bioactive agent, a hydrophobic solubilizer capable of solubilizing at least part of the bioactive agent, and a hydrophobic plasticizing agent having a weight average molecular weight of above 1500.

  • Publication number: 20210299068
Abstract: Chlorhexidine gluconate is a commonly used disinfectant that is soluble in aqueous solutions. Because it is a common disinfectant, chlorhexidine gluconate is often used in alcohol solvents, but chlorhexidine gluconate is not soluble in C2-05 alcohol solvents. Also, a chlorhexidine gluconate containing solution can be susceptible to spontaneous calcium gluconate crystallization when formulated with high levels of solvent such as alcohol. These calcium gluconate crystals appear like glass shards. It is desirable to inhibit the formation of these crystals without affecting the antimicrobial potency of the solution. The disclosed chlorhexidine antimicrobial composition includes a chelating agent to inhibit formation of this salt or reverse crystal formation.

  • Publication number: 20200113729
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide for a patient warming system having a heating device configured to transfer heat to a patient based on a body heat score that indicates whether the patient is likely to sweat. The heating device includes a heater circuit configured to produce heat, the heater circuit thermally coupled to the patient. The heating device also includes a controller communicatively coupled to the heater circuit. The controller has one or more processors configured to receive one or more physiological indicators of the patient, determine the body heat score from one or more physiological indicators, determine whether the body heat score meets a score threshold, direct the heater circuit to produce a first amount of heat based on whether the body heat score meets a score threshold.
