    Abstract: A vertical fan unit includes a cabinet, a fan unit and a heating and cooling coil. A piping and valve assembly connects the heating and cooling coil to a four-pipe vertical riser. Shut-off ball valves are connected to respective hot and cold supply pipes of the vertical riser out of the path of air flowing through the heating and cooling coil. Hot and cold return valve assemblies include control ball valves connected to respective return pipes of the four pipe vertical riser and positioned adjacent the side wall out of the path of air flowing through the heating and cooling coil. A cable connects each temperature probe of the shut-off ball valves with respective BTU meters mounted at the control ball valves.

A first sensor orifice is formed within the valve housing coaxial with the axis of ball rotation and receives a sensor, which extends into a second sensor orifice of the ball. A valve stem is operatively connected to the ball and extends along the axis of ball rotation opposite the first sensor orifice. The valve stem rotates the ball into and out of open and closed ball valve positions.

A plunger spring as a preferred wave spring engages the first end of the plunger and biases the plunger into the forward sealed position. First and second conical gaskets at the plunger spring allow the plunger spring as a preferred wave spring, plunger, and any connected plug to rotate within the socket housing and minimize torsion forces and stress on the plunger spring and within the socket housing.
