  • Patent number: 9405237
Abstract: In a method or a transfer station for a digital printer, liquid developer with toner particles can be directed towards a first side of a recording medium and onto the first side of the recording medium at a transfer point. A transfer roller can be configured to direct the liquid developer towards the recording medium. The toner particles can have a first polarity and the recording medium can move past the transfer roller along a transport direction. A layer of charged particles can be applied from a second side of the recording medium by a surface charging station. The surface charging station can be arranged before the transfer point in the transport direction. The second side of the recording medium can be opposite the first side. • Patent number: 8099030
Abstract: In a system or method for development of potential images of images to be printed and generated on an intermediate image carrier using a developer fluid comprising charged toner particles and developer fluid in an electrographic printing or copying device, a feed device is provided comprising as function elements at least one chamber scraper, a raster element comprising cups to receiver the developer fluid, and at least one first flow element arranged in the chamber scraper. Between the at least one flow element and the raster element an electrical voltage is supplied such that a toner particle concentration in the cups of the raster element is increased. An application device accepts the developer fluid from the feed device and supplies it to the intermediate image carrier.

  • Patent number: 7471907
Abstract: In an electrographic printing device, an image generating system generates an electrical charge image on an image carrier element. The electronic charge image is made visible by a developer station via charged ink particles, the image being subsequently transferred onto a final image medium and fixed thereon. A speed control is provided which: continuously varies speed of the image carrier element from zero up to a limit speed; adapts charge intensity of the image carrier element to its speed; adapts an exposure intensity for exposure according to the image and in a deletion exposure of the image carrier element to its speed; and keeps a supply of toner to the image carrier element constant per area.

  • Publication number: 20080310870
Abstract: In a method or system to develop a potential image with selectable customer-specific colors using a developer fluid in an electrographic printing or copying device, a customer-specific color for print job is generated as a developer fluid from primary color concentrates and a carrier fluid in a mixing container of a mixing device. The developer fluid is fed to a developer station to develop the potential images. Given a color change to a new color in a mixing device, color values of a color of a residual developer fluid that remains are measured and via comparison of these color values with color values of the new color it is determined whether the new color can be generated using the residual developer fluid. If this is the case, the residual developer fluid is used to generate the new color.

  • Patent number: 7463851
Abstract: In a method or device for transport of liquid developer to an image carrier element for electrophoretic digital printing, a developer unit is arranged adjacent to the image carrier element, the developer unit directing a liquid developer having toner particles to the image carrier element, the toner particles crossing over to the image carrier element corresponding to previously-generated potential images. A raster unit is arranged adjacent to the developer unit. The raster unit transports the liquid developer to the developer unit by use of a raster. An electrical voltage is applied between the raster unit and the developer unit in order to exert a targeted field effect on the toner particles in a direction towards the developer unit. A chamber scraper having a dosing scraper is arranged adjacent to the raster unit and having liquid developer having the toner particles which are already charged. From the chamber scraper the raster unit accepts the liquid developer via the dosing scraper.

  • Patent number: 7433613
Abstract: In a method and system for setting toner concentration of a toner particle-carrier particle mixture in a developer station for development of a latent charge image on a carrier, a sensor is arranged in the developer station measuring the toner concentration. Toner feed in the developer station is adjusted. A current consumption value is determined for toner particles. From the toner concentration measured with the sensor and from the toner consumption value, a toner concentration is calculated at a location in the developer station at which the toner is extracted. A calculated toner concentration at the toner extraction location is input as a control variable used to adjust toner feed so that the calculated toner concentration approaches a desired value.

  • Publication number: 20070280737
Abstract: In a method or device for development of potential images previously generated on a potential image carrier, the potential images comprising images to be printed as image locations, in an electrophotographic printing or copying device, an applicator roller directs a liquid developer comprising carrier fluid and toner particles onto the potential image carrier for inking of the image locations of the potential images such that a developer gap provided between the potential image carrier and the applicator rollers is substantially filled. A proportion of the toner particles is mixed with the carrier fluid with a viscosity between 0.1 to 80 mPa*s using a dispersion promoting additive such that the liquid developer has a viscosity between 1-99 mPa*s, so that the toner particles dispersed in the liquid developer in a region of the image locations of the potential images migrate onto. the potential image carrier and no toner particles migrate in regions that are not to be developed.

  • Patent number: 7020420
Abstract: In a device and method for electrographic printing or copying, a latent image carrier is provided having a potential pattern corresponding to an image pattern. An applicator pattern is provided that carries a liquid layer of ink spaced from a surface of the latent image carrier by an air gap. A surface of the applicator element is provided with a structure with which detachment of droplets from the liquid layer is facilitated, the structure having a plurality of first areas having an increased electrical conductivity, a plurality of second areas that differ from a remaining surface based on a portion of surface energy, and a plurality of third areas formed as microscopic elevations. A force field is applied in the air gap to act on the liquid layer. By overcoming the air gap, droplets are transferred from the liquid layer on the surface of the latent image carrier by overcoming the air gap for inking a latent image to create an inked image.

  • Patent number: 7016620
Abstract: In a method and device to control a print process in a printer or copier, with a character generator generating a latent print image and a latent toner marking on an image carrier. An exposure energy per unit area for the generation of the latent toner marking is decreased in comparison to an energy per unit area for generation of the latent print image. The latent print image and the latent toner marking are developed with toner in the developer station. An optical reflection sensor determines color density of the developed toner marking. Toner concentration is adjusted in a developer station dependent on a signal of the reflection sensor.
