  • Patent number: 6113070
Abstract: An aerosol valve assembly(12) has a mounting cup(18) with an arcuate bottom portion(43) that distorts during pressurization to absorb some of the pressure shock to enable pressurization at higher levels and a valve stem(22) with grooves(25) that define passageways through a bore(21) within which the valve stem(22) is slideably mounted to eliminate leakage through the bore and to reduce back pressure to enable good flow rates at reduced pressures.

  • Patent number: 6070765
Abstract: An aerosol valve cover (10) having a generally cup-shaped plastic body (12) with a cylindrical base wall for releasable attachment to an annular collar (52) of an aerosol valve mounting cup (51), a plurality of locking tabs (56A, 56B, 58A, 58B) carried by the base wall (16) extending inwardly from the base wall for locking receipt beneath a lower edge (50) of the annular collar, a plurality of preweakened score lines (32) in the base wall (16) to enable the base wall (16) to resiliently flex radially outwardly to be press fit down onto the annular collar (52) until the locking tabs resiliently pass over the edge and snap radially inwardly into locking receipt beneath the lower edge of the annular collar (52). An unlocking member (34) releasably attached to the base wall (16) at a break-away section (24) with an elongate neck (36) extending outwardly from the break-away section (24) to a distal manually engagable end (38) which is cantilever supported by the elongate neck (36).

  • Patent number: 4824075
Abstract: For use in a tilt action valve for dispensing a pressurized viscous product, in which a grommet is held by a mounting cup and secures the valve stem and body, product leakage between the grommet and valve stem is minimized by forming in the grommet a pocket which fills with the dispensed product and then lies tightly against the valve stem. The pocket causes the valve and grommet to be tilted with easier control. The pocket's operation simplifies the construction of the grommet and valve body, thus permitting dimensions which enable cheaper parts costs and assembly.

  • Patent number: 4805813
Abstract: An aerosol tilt valve assembly (30, 30') with a valve cup (32) for mounting of a grommet (34) and valve stem (36) includes an annular shoulder (32K, 42A, 42B) formed in the bottom of the cup for strengthening it against distortion from excess aerosol pressures and to otherwise reduce leakage between the valve cup (32) and the grommet (34). In one embodiment, the shoulder (32K) defines a recess for mating receipt of the grommet (34). In another embodiment, the shoulder (42A, 42B) defines a portion of both a reservoir groove (44) and a complementary strengthening rib 42.
