  • Patent number: 5373903
Abstract: A self-cleaning, dual purpose, manual garden tool that can be used either as a weeder or as a cultivator. The tool has an elongated body that serves as a handle. The body is longitudinally split into two parts which are pivotally joined at one end. When the two parts are brought together they mate so as to form a single body. A blade formed of laterally spaced tines is mounted at the pivoted end of one body part so as to form a longitudinal extension of that body part. Another blade formed of laterally spaced tines is mounted on the pivoted end of the other body part so as to form a transverse extension thereof. When the tool is used as a weeder the longitudinally extending blade is shoved in the soil underneath a weed and the weed is lifted by a prying action. When the tool is used as a cultivator the transversely extending blade is used to scarify the top soil and dig out weeds.

  • Patent number: 4986395
Abstract: A combined suitcase and portable ironing board comprising a pair of suitcase sections each including a closed end surrounded by side walls and an open end. The suitcase sections are pivotably connected to one another along a side wall of each section so that the sections can be pivoted away from each other to an open position with the closed ends in the same plane forming an elongated, contiguous, substantially flat ironing board surface. A panel extends outwardly from the side wall of one suitcase section opposite the side wall which is pivotably connected to the other suitcase section and has a substantially flat surface lying in substantially the same plane as the closed ends forming an extension of the ironing board surface. Means are provided for supporting the panel in its outwardly extending position and for retracting the panel through an opening in the side wall when the panel is not in use.

  • Patent number: 3963329
Abstract: A binocular indirect ophthalmoscope of the type having a central reflecting prism and a pair of adjustable oculars. The instrument may be used in the examination of eyes having either normally dilated or small pupils. Small pupil capability is achieved by making the aperture of each ocular substantially larger than in conventional ophthalmoscopes. By moving the oculars outwardly from the center line of the observer's pupils, the observer views along an axis offset from the optical axis and utilizes the apex portion of the reflecting prism. In this manner, the observer's pupils may be imaged into a patient's pupil as small as 1.5 millimeters in diameter. The plurality of adjustments required in prior art small pupil ophthalmoscopes is thereby avoided. The foregoing abstract is not to be taken either as a complete exposition or as a limitation of the present invention.
