  • Patent number: 7656354
Abstract: Disclosed is an antenna apparatus for a portable terminal which includes radiation elements received in a housing of the portable terminal; contact arms formed on the radiation elements; and feeding pads disposed on both surfaces of a printed circuit board, wherein the contact arms are in contact with the feeding pads. The contact arms respectively come in contact with each feeding pad. The pair of feeding pads is attached to the printed circuit board while the contact arms are provided on the radiation elements so as to come in contact with the each feeding pad, so that the antenna apparatus may satisfy operation criteria of wide and multi bands. In addition, the radiation elements are formed as a pair, one of which satisfies the operation criteria of double and triple bands and the other of which has resonance frequency of other bands, so that the operation criteria of the multi bands can be effectively achieved.

  • Patent number: 7158085
Abstract: Disclosed is an antenna apparatus for a sliding-type portable terminal having a first housing and a second housing adapted to slide along the longitudinal direction of the first housing including an external antenna having a stationary antenna portion extending along the longitudinal direction and having an end fixed on the first housing and at least one movable antenna portion extending along the longitudinal direction and having the other end fixed to the second housing so that, as the second housing slides, it retracts in and extends out of the stationary antenna portion. The antenna apparatus for a sliding-type portable terminal has an external antenna which, together with the embedded antenna, compensates for the deteriorated performance of the embedded antenna during a speech mode. In addition, the antenna apparatus does not affect the design of the terminal and provides various types of terminal design, because it does not protrudes out of the terminal.

  • Patent number: 6885346
Abstract: There is provided a built-in single band antenna device and an operating method thereof in a mobile terminal. In the built-in antenna single band antenna device, a built-in single band antenna is formed into a conductive pattern on a board extended from the upper side of a main PCB. A whip antenna is connected to the built-in single band antenna, and contained in the mobile terminal when the whip antenna is retracted. A whip antenna driver extends or retracts the whip antenna. A duplexer separates an RF signal received from the built-in single band antenna from an RF signal to be transmitted to the built-in single band antenna. A controller processes the RF signals received at and transmitted from the duplexer and controls the whip antenna driver to extend the whip antenna in a speech state or upon a call attempt from a user.

  • Patent number: 6662021
Abstract: A mobile communication system has a multi-band antenna capable of receiving and processing signals of GPS, CDMA, and PCS bands. In the system, a GPS processing section receives a signal of a first frequency band, so as to generate global positioning information. A communication signal processing section receives signals of a second frequency band lower than the first frequency band and a third frequency band higher than the first frequency band, demodulates the received signals , while modulating signals to be transmitted of the second frequency band and the third frequency band and outputting the modulated signals. The multi-band antenna has a dual-pitch helical antenna which includes first and second helical coil portions having different pitches, so that the first and second helical coil portions have different impedances for the signals of the first to third frequency bands.
