    Abstract: The present disclosure relates, according to some embodiments, to a method of temporal bipartite projection for users and objects and a method of link prediction for an unhappened event. The method of the temporal bipartite projection comprises making a sequence of user-object weighted bipartite networks with the user-object weights, identifying the transitions for each user from a first object at a first time to a second object at a second time, assigning the transition weights corresponding to the transitions according to a predetermined rule, summing the transition weights for all users between two objects to obtain the transition tendencies, and constructing a temporal projection graph with the transition tendencies.

    Abstract: In a Vehicular Ad Hoc Network (VANET) a hybrid method combines SDMA (Space Division Multiple Access) and dynamic TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access) that divides the roadway into regions (whose size is larger than the SDMA unit) where each region is allocated a pool of radio channels based on SDMA and may contain a limited number of vehicles. Vehicles within the same region compete for and access the channels using dynamic TDMA. A channel allocation scheme that maps the pool of channels to the regions such that when a vehicle acquires multiple channels (time slots) in a region, the intervals among the channels are as uniform as possible, thus minimizing the waiting time of the messages to be broadcast by the vehicle, which is critical for safety related applications. This solution is referred to as R-SDMA (Region based SDMA).

    Abstract: A resource allocation apparatus, method, application program, and computer readable medium thereof are provided. A plurality of data streams are transmitted to a plurality of receiving ends via a network resource, wherein each of the receiving ends has a subscribing status. Each of the data streams comprises a plurality of data layers. First, required data are sent to the receiving ends. Then, an efficiency ratio of each of the possible transmission combinations is dynamically calculated. Finally, data layers comprised in the possible transmission combination that has the greatest efficiency ratio are transmitted to the receiving ends. Efficiency ratios are calculated according to the whole network resource, the channels of the receiving ends, and the characters of the data streams. By the aforementioned arrangement, data layers received by the receiving ends can be adjusted dynamically. Thus, the efficiency of the network resource can be increased.

    Abstract: A mobile host is connected to a communication terminal through a first mobile switching center of a cellular network, a first gateway at a near end of the Internet, and a second gateway at a far end of the Internet. When the mobile host roams from an area controlled by the first mobile switching center to an area controlled by a second mobile switching center, a comparison is done between the first gateway connected to the first mobile switching center and a third gateway that is connected to the second mobile switching center. If the third gateway and the first gateway are different, the third gateway invokes a call transfer procedure to the first gateway to establish a connection between the second gateway and the third gateway, and release a connection between the first gateway and the second gateway.

    Abstract: A data distribution system and a protocol for interactive information services over a network and in particular for video-on-demand applications. A shared buffer and a split-and-merge protocol are implemented to allow multiple users to share the same video stream multicasted over a network with true VOD services including the ability to access any available video at any time, and to perform any VCR-like functions and random access. Video requests for a video program are served in batches. A user interaction is first handled by splitting off the interactive user from a shared video stream in a batch, and by subsequently assigning the user a new dedicated video stream. The interactive user is subsequently merged back to one of the batching video streams shared by multiple users upon resuming normal play mode.
