  • Publication number: 20150209717
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an improved process for removing siloxanes from a biogas feed comprising (i) passing a gas feed through an adsorbent bed having an adsorbent having an inert surface to adsorb onto the adsorbent at least a portion of the siloxanes in the gas feed; and (ii) regenerating the adsorbent by removing siloxanes from the adsorbent. The adsorbent surface is rendered inert or nearly inert preferably via calcination.

  • Patent number: 9039807
Abstract: A natural gas-containing stream such as biogas from landfills and sewage treatment plants is freed of siloxane contaminants by passing the biogas through a bed containing an adsorbent having a neutral surface, which adsorbs the siloxanes. When the bed of neutral adsorbent is filled to capacity, the adsorbent bed is heated to remove the siloxanes and regenerate the bed. The neutral adsorbent reduces disadvantageous reactions between the adsorbent and siloxane and other impurities in the natural gas-containing stream.

  • Patent number: 8300560
Abstract: A method and a wireless device (120, 122) utilize auxiliary information associated with an emergency alert system alert message to direct a user of the wireless device (120, 122) to safety. A wireless communication system (102) wirelessly transmits an emergency alert system (EAS) alert message to a wireless device (120, 122). The wireless communication system (102) also wirelessly transmits an augmented EAS alert message to the wireless device (120, 122). The augmented EAS alert message includes auxiliary information that provides information to the wireless device (120, 122) to direct a user of the wireless device (120, 122) to move at least one of toward a safe zone (150) and away from a danger zone (158). The auxiliary information in the augmented EAS alert message is optionally adjusted based on any combination of: the location of the wireless device, the safe zone, and the danger zone, and the logistics of a vicinity affected by the danger zone.

  • Publication number: 20120034897
Abstract: Embodiments include communication devices and texting methods performed by communication devices. When the communication device detects that a text session has been initiated with a potential real time text (RTT) destination specified as a destination for text messages transmitted by the communication device, the communication device automatically transitions into an RTT transmission mode. While in the RTT transmission mode, text messages may be communicated to the destination using an RTT protocol. A response system may be configured to communicate with the communication device, while the communication device is in the RTT transmission mode.

  • Publication number: 20070149254
Abstract: A mobile communication device 100 has a digital subsystem (110) and a radio frequency subsystem (108), and is powered by a battery (102) which is charged via a charge control circuit (106) using an external power supply (104) connected to the mobile communication device in a single path configuration. The mobile communication device permits limited operation of the mobile communication device by a user while the battery voltage is sufficient to power the digital subsystem but not yet sufficient to power the radio frequency subsystem. The delay in operation is minimized, however, because once charging commences, the battery voltage rises sufficiently fast that, typically, by the time the digital subsystem is initialized, enabled, and powered up, the battery voltage will be sufficient to enable the radio frequency subsystem.

  • Publication number: 20070046517
Abstract: A sigma delta digital-to-analog (D/A) converter system (10) includes a summing device (35) at an input of a D/A converter (30), and a low frequency low amplitude wave signal (31) injected at an input of the summing device that remains unfiltered and is used to suppress spurious tone artifacts. The D/A converter system can further include an amplitude control and a frequency control for selectively adjusting the frequency and the amplitude of the low frequency low amplitude wave signal being injected. Note, the low frequency low amplitude repeating wave signal generator can take the form of a digital signal processor (DSP) (37) having the appropriate software to generate such signals.

  • Publication number: 20060148465
Abstract: The invention concerns a method (400) and system (100) for providing an adaptive disablement zone (126). The method can include the steps of establishing (412) at least one disablement zone, selectively disabling (420) any number of wireless communications devices (114) in the disablement zone, designating (424) at least one exempt zone (128) and when at least a portion of the exempt zone is located within the disablement zone, selectively exempting (430) the selective disabling of the wireless communications devices that are within the exempt zone. The method can further include the step of maintaining (414) the disablement zone in a fixed position or moving (414) the disablement zone. The method can also include the step of maintaining (426) the exempt zone in a fixed position or moving (426) the exempt zone.

  • Publication number: 20060045215
Abstract: A method and apparatus to correct a periodic signal, such as a frequency reference, based upon another frequency reference. A lower accuracy frequency signal generator (104) provides an uncorrected frequency reference signal (122) to a frequency corrector (106). Frequency corrector (106) counts cycles of a frequency reference signal (124), as generated by a higher accuracy reference generator (102) for a time period derived from the uncorrected frequency signal. Based upon the cycles counted, pulses are added or removed from the uncorrected frequency signal (122) to produce a corrected frequency signal (126). A ratio of pulses to be removed from the uncorrected frequency signal (122) is determined from the number of cycles counted and a counter arrangement is provided to automatically remove the required ratio of pulses from the uncorrected frequency signal (122).

  • Publication number: 20050071693
Abstract: Supply voltages within a data processing system may be controlled by a voltage control module which can provide digital signals to a power management unit to cause changes in supply voltages without software intervention. For example, in one embodiment, a voltage control signal and a standby signal may be provided to control the supply voltages output by a voltage regulator within the power management unit. In one embodiment having multiple processors, a voltage control signal and a standby signal corresponding to each processor may be provided to the power management unit which has a voltage regulator supplying an independently controlled supply voltage to each processor. Alternatively, a voltage regulator, a voltage control signal, and a standby signal may be shared by multiple processors, where the voltage control module may ensure that the supply voltage is changed only when the change is appropriate for all processors sharing the same voltage regulator.

  • Publication number: 20050057531
Abstract: The invention concerns a method (800) and system (100) for generating characters on a display. The method (800) includes the steps of assigning (812) at least one character (124) to one of a plurality of predetermined values that correspond to varying levels of pressure and receiving (816) an applied pressure. The method (800) can also include the step of selecting (820) at least one character (124) in response to the applied pressure in which the character (124) that is selected is assigned to the predetermined value that corresponds to the applied pressure.
