  • Publication number: 20100126164
Abstract: A float structure for a WEC is designed to have a tapered underside to reduce the impact due to wave slam and bending moments while providing little reduction in the surface area responding to the wave surface in order to maintain the beneficial power generating capability of a “flat” float. The underside of the float presents an inverted wedge section to decrease loads associated with wave slamming. The float may have a generally toroidal or elliptical configuration at and about the “still” water line with the generally submerged underside of the float having a cross section shaped to have one or more inverted triangular sections extending between the outer perimeter of the float and its center to reduce impact loading due to wave slamming while maintaining power producing capability.

  • Publication number: 20100124075
Abstract: An edge type back light module and a display device using the same are provided. The edge type back light module includes a light guide plate (LGP), a light source and a frame. The LGP has a light-receiving surface, a light-emitting surface and a light-reflecting surface opposite to the light-emitting surface. The light-emitting surface faces the display panel. The light source is adjacent to the light-receiving surface for emitting a light. The frame has a frame surface and a light guide portion. After a portion of the light contacts the light guide portion, the light guide portion disposed on the frame surface guides the portion of the light to be emitted from the light-emitting surface. A predetermined angle is contained between the outgoing direction of the portion of the light emitted from the light-emitting surface and the normal direction of the light-emitting surface.

  • Patent number: 7496147
Abstract: A method is provided for transmitting information in a radio communication system provided with at least one transmitting station (AP) and at least two receiver stations (MT). The transmitting station (AP) and the receiver stations (MT) are connected together via a radio communication interface. The transmitting stations (AP) includes a transmitting antenna with K<SB>B</SB>31 antenna elements, whereby K<SB>B</SB>?1, and the receiving stations (MT) respectively include a transmitting antenna with K<SB>M</SB> antenna elements, whereby K<SB>M</SB>?1, and which communicate via a MIMO-transmission. The transmitting signals transmitted from the antenna elements of the transmitting antenna of the transmitting station (AP) are produced in a common process and are adapted in relation to the transmitting energy to be used during radiation.

  • Publication number: 20070206697
Abstract: In a multiple input/multiple output wireless communication system, a receiving signal is compensated based on a wireless channel state information matrix converted by lattice reduction. The distortion of the modulation constellation diagram of a signal is considered, a detection signal is processed, and an intermediate signal table containing at least two intermediate signals is obtained to increase the area for the detection signal to be decided correctly, thereby to improve the possibility of the correct detection of the signal. Then a candidate signal table is obtained from the intermediate signal table and, based on the candidate signal table, a decision signal for a transmitting signal is obtained, thereby improving the accuracy of the detection of the transmitting signal. When at a high signal-to-noise ratio, the bit-error performance approaches the bit-error performance of a system using maximum likelihood detection algorithm, while causing no significant increase in computation complexity.

  • Publication number: 20070166700
Abstract: A method of detecting a biological analyte within a sample (12) is provided. The analyte is one that can be electrically charged or polarized in the presence of an electric field. The sample is place in proximity with a ferroelectric transducer (14). An electric field is established to polarize the analyte in the sample. An electric response of the ferroelectric transducer resulting from the electric field and indicative of the presence of the analyte in the sample is then sensed. Also provided is a sensor for detecting the analyte within the sample. The sensor has a ferroelectric transducer and first (20) and second electrodes (22) for establishing a potential difference across a sample disposed adjacent to the transducer to generate an electric field in the sample. The sensor may also have an electric signal detector (26) for sensing the electric response.

  • Publication number: 20070136812
Abstract: A virus preventive system detects computer viruses by file pattern verification mechanism. It registers an original file pattern which is permitted to be accessed into the Verification Data Base. Registration of a file occurs before it is executed, which allows confirming if the file has been falsified. The Verification Data Base will be verified automatically by the Verification Client, which is served by the Verification Server. Consequently the present invention vouches for the validity of files so that it prevents the invasion of new computer viruses even though there is no knowledge about the viruses or malicious programs. Therefore, the present invention is able to prevent damage from all malicious computer programs beforehand.

  • Patent number: 6909820
Abstract: A planar 2×2 switch is provided for controllably coupling first and second input channels to first and second output channels. The switch includes a first reflector that is movable between a first position and a second position. When the first reflector is in its second position, it reflects light from the first input channel to the second output channel and reflects light from the second input channel to the first output channel. When the first reflection is in its first position, it does not affect the optical beams in the switch. Instead, these beams are reflected by a second reflector which has two reflective surfaces. The second reflector reflects light from the first input channel to the first output channel and reflects light from the second input channel to the second output channel. Switches having a larger number of input and output channels are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20040086219
Abstract: A planar 2×2 switch is provided for controllably coupling optical channels, the switch has a reflector which is movable between a first and a second position. The reflector in the first position is disposed such that it reflects the optical signal into the second output channel. The optical signal from first input channel is coupled into second output fiber. The optical signal from second input fiber is coupled into first output fiber. The reflector in the second position is disposed such that the input optical signal propagates to a second reflector and is reflected and refocused into the output fiber. The reflection direction from the second reflector introduces a double reflection by utilizing two planar reflectors. The optical signal from first input channel is reflected into first output channel. The optical signal from second input channel will be coupled into second output channel.

  • Publication number: 20040086221
Abstract: A first embodiment of the present invention provides a dense wavelength division multiplexer which has a planar array of input optical channels, each channel capable of receiving an optical signal. Coupled to this planar array of input channels is a first waveguide concentrator which facilitates the reduction of the spacing between the cores of the input optical channels. A first collimating provides means for transforming the optical signals into a collimated beam. A wavelength dependent element is disposed proximate the first collimating means. A second collimating means refocuses the collimated beam into an optical channel in a second waveguide concentrator, which facilitates the expansion of the spacing between the cores of the output channels, and ultimately to an array of output optical channels.
