  • Publication number: 20240078575
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for presenting multimedia content to a caller and/or a called party in association with a telephone call. Content may be presented pre-ring (before the called party's telephone rings), in-call, and/or post-call. Content presented to a party may be related to another party participating in the call or may be related to a third party (e.g., an advertiser that paid for the ability to have its content presented). Presented content may be actuable, to allow a caller to change the destination of a call, take advantage of an offer presented to him or her, redeem a coupon, schedule or queue a subsequent call, etc. To find a desired destination party, a caller may initiate a manual or automatic search of his or her local contacts (on his telephone) and/or a central or global directory or contact list.

  • Publication number: 20230145307
Abstract: A system, apparatus and method are provided for preparing water for human consumption. Water from a public or other source is input to the system or apparatus and is filtered internal or external to the system/apparatus. A temperature adjustment may be applied, such as cooling or heating the water to a specific or approximate temperature. One or more water enhancements may be added to the water, in specified amounts or proportions. Enhancements potentially include flavoring agents, sweeteners, vitamins, nutrients, minerals, carbonation, and so on. A given combination of enhancements and corresponding amounts, and possibly other characteristics (e.g., the temperature, a quantity of water to prepare), may be saved as a recipe. The system, apparatus and method operate in association with an application or online service for creating, sharing, and preparing recipes.

  • Patent number: 11417924
Abstract: A refuelable electrochemical battery or cell is provided that features three phases of operation that repeat cyclically. In an intake phase, electrochemically active particles that are at least partially magnetic and a suitable electrolyte are admitted or fed into a cell cavity. In a power phase, oxidation and reduction reactions produce electrical energy while an electromagnet and/or permanent magnet attract the particles toward one electrode. A gas-diffusion membrane permeable by oxygen operates in conjunction with another electrode. During the exhaust phase, a piston forces residue of the reaction from the cavity to prepare for the next cycle of operation.

  • Publication number: 20220070165
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide apparatuses, systems, methods, and computer program products, for identification and confirmation of a user entity associated with a near-field item. An apparatus may be provided, the apparatus configured to receive, from a user device, an electronic data transmission associated with the user device and indicative of response to a near-field verification prompt. The electronic data transmission is received over a carrier network including a carrier device configured to inject identity-linked device information using a header enrichment process. The apparatus further determines an identification confirmation indicator based on the identity-linked device information; transmits, to the user device, an identification completed notification for forwarding to a service provider device; receives, from the service provider device, an identification verification query and, in response, provides the identification confirmation indicator.

  • Publication number: 20220058546
Abstract: A system and method are provided for outsourcing a computer-based task, such as modifying a document (e.g., text, an image), transcribing audio, performing research, translating from one language to another, etc. Outsourceable tasks are designed by service developers and posted on an exchange. Service providers bid on tasks they are qualified for, to indicate they will perform those tasks if paid the bid. Task buyers browse or navigate through the exchange to find what they need, and select a task based on its description, price and/or other factors (e.g., delivery time, language(s)). The exchange receives a task order (i.e., a purchased task), identifies qualified service providers and routes the task, with any required input, to a qualified provider who can complete the task before a deadline. Upon completion, the provider submits the completed task and any required output (e.g., deliverables) to the exchange, which forwards the output to the buyer.

  • Patent number: 10268363
Abstract: A graphical user interface is provided for navigating and/or manipulating content simply via touch of a touch-sensitive surface. The content may include discrete content items (e.g., songs, video clips, documents, web pages) and/or actions (e.g., place a call, read a message, play a game), and may or may not be hierarchical in nature. The interface may be presented on a touch-screen display, such that a user may navigate to a content item or action via a single touch on the display (e.g., with a finger or other tool), followed by gliding through any number of levels or clusters of nodes (representing content items, content compilations/categories and/or actions). The desired content item or action may be initiated automatically (e.g., opened, performed) simply by touching it, by lifting the gliding finger or by performing some other input (e.g., tapping a node, speaking a command, touching with a second finger).
