Abstract: A floor mat includes a perforated carpet and a thermoplastic rubber base. The base is formed around the perimeter of the carpet and through the carpet's perforations so that it integrates with the carpet and forms ribs and bosses adjacent the perforations, while leaving portions of the carpet exposed. The portions are left exposed by pinch-off ribbing within in the mold for forming the mat, which isolates the portions from the base.
