  • Patent number: 6845549
Abstract: A worm drive hose clip has a clamping strap with overlapping end sections, a clamping screw, and a housing. The radially outer end section has thread elements engaging the threaded screw shaft. The radially inner end section is connected to the housing bottom having a butt joint with interlocking undercuts. The bottom has a first transverse border with tongues arranged on opposite sides of the butt joint and projecting outwardly into an opening of the radially inner end section. A second straight transverse border of the bottom is supported on first grooves impressed radially inwardly in the clamping strap and opening toward the second transverse border. A second groove adjoins the opening and supports the bottom. The radially inner edges of the first and second circumferential grooves are aligned with an underside of the bottom and pass continuously into an inner side of the radially inner end section.

  • Patent number: 6490765
Abstract: A steel band for a hose clamp has a main body and at least one pair of end portions, wherein each one of the end portions has at least one slotted hole receiving a clamping screw with a screw head. The end portions are bent to form loops. Each loop has first and second legs. First and second clamping members are inserted into the loops, respectively. The first and second clamping members have a substantially cylindrical periphery. The first clamping member has a transverse bore without thread receiving a threaded shaft of the clamping screw allowing free movement of the threaded shaft. The second clamping member has a transverse threaded bore engaging the threaded shaft of the clamping screw. The first and second legs are connected to one another near the free end of the first leg by a positive-locking connection.

  • Patent number: 6449813
Abstract: A worm-driven hose clamp has a housing made of a band connected with interlocking cutout and projection to form an open butt joint. A clamping screw with a threaded shaft is arranged in the housing. The first and second ends of a clamping strip are overlappingly received in the housing. The first end has thread elements interacting with the threaded shaft. The second end is fastened to the housing bottom which has transverse edges extending transversely to the butt joint. The transverse edges have radially outwardly, circumferentially projecting tongues on opposite sides of the butt joint. The second end has openings on opposite sides of the butt joint for receiving the tongues. Depressions adjoin the openings. They project radially inwardly and extend longitudinally in a circumferential direction of the clamping strip away from the housing relative to the transverse edges. The tongues penetrate the openings and matchingly engage the depressions.

  • Patent number: 5309607
Abstract: A hose clip which comprises a flexible strap adapted to be placed around a selected portion of a hose and to be tightened around such selected portion by turning a bolt or screw. An elongated concavo-convex strip-shaped resilient insert is adjacent a portion of the internal surface and extends in the circumferential direction of the strap opposite the mechanism which serves to increase or reduce the effective length of the strap. The convex external surface of the insert is biased in a direction away from the adjacent portion of the internal surface of the strap by one or more springs which are disposed between the insert and the strap and are of one piece with the insert. At least one end of the insert is slidable along the strap. The spring or springs ensure that the strap does not become loose as a result of aging of the material of the adjacent portion of the hose.

  • Patent number: 5115541
Abstract: A hose clip wherein a flexible annular strap can be place around one end portion of a hose and a relatively small portion (less than 50 percent) of the inner side of the strap is overlapped by the convex external surface of a deformable insert. The space between the insert and the strap confines one or more springs, or one or more springs are outwardly adjacent the strap, to bias the concave internal surface of the insert against the adjacent portion of the hose. The strap can constitute an endless ring or it can be of finite length and the hose clip then comprises a tightening mechanism for the strap. The insert can be biased by one or more leaf springs, by one or more C-springs or by one or more coil springs. The spring or springs can be caused to store more energy than required to maintain the hose in sealing engagement with a pipe or nipple, and the surplus energy is then dissipated as soon as the strap is placed around the hose and the tubular body is inserted into the hose.

  • Patent number: 4468840
Abstract: A clamp for hoses or the like has an elongated band the end portions of which overlap each other and are held in overlapped relationship to form a loop around the hose or the like. Each end portion has an outwardly extending projection which can be engaged by a tool to tension the clamp. The projection on the outer end portion is a lug which is plastically deformable in a direction toward the other end portion when the maximum permissible tensioning force is reached. This ensures that the maximum permissible force cannot be exceeded and allows for a visual control as to whether or not the clamp has been properly tightened.

  • Patent number: 4449429
Abstract: A power tool for tensioning hose clamps of the type wherein one end portion of a strap overlies the other end portion and has a laterally extending tip which can break away or bend in response to the application of a pull sufficient to effect satisfactory tensioning of the looped central portion of the strap around a hose or the like. The tool has a barrel with an inlet receiving the one end portion so that the tip can be engaged by the shoulder of an entraining element mounted at the front end of a retractible piston rod. The tensioning element is reciprocable in and relative to a bearing which is reciprocable in the barrel by interposition of friction reducing rolling elements. When the piston rod is retracted, the shoulder of the tensioning element moves against the tip of the one end portion of the strap and exerts a pull upon the tip while moving with the bearing so that the force which is needed to bend or break the tip at least approximates the maximum force that is necessary to retract the piston rod.
