  • Patent number: 10181767
Abstract: An electric motor is provided including: a stator, an armature rotatably received within the stator and having an armature shaft on which a commutator is mounted, and a brush assembly. The brush assembly defines a first surface facing the stator and a second surface opposite the first surface. The brush assembly includes a brush card mount having openings, brushes in sliding contact with the commutator to supply electric current to the commutator, and thermally-conductive brush holders that house the brushes. Each of the brush holders includes a base portion disposed substantially along a same plane as a surface of the brush card mount to form the first surface of the brush assembly, and a main portion protruding from the base portion through a respective opening of the brush card mount to house a respective brush at least partially over the second surface of the brush assembly.

  • Publication number: 20180304383
Abstract: A chop saw has a base assembly, a support housing connected to the base assembly, a saw assembly pivotally connected to the support housing allowing the saw assembly to be pivoted downwardly towards the base assembly for conducting a cutting operation on a workpiece. The saw assembly has a motor, a blade driven by the motor and an upper blade guard for covering an upper portion of the blade. A sensor assembly senses a position of the saw assembly relative to the workpiece and/or the support housing. A controller receives a signal an input representative of the position of the saw assembly from the sensor assembly and controls the motor according to such signal.

  • Patent number: 9991706
Abstract: A portable power supply apparatus is provided having reduced impedance losses. The portable power supply apparatus is comprised of: a portable housing; a battery system residing in the housing; and an inverter circuit residing in the housing. The battery system generates a direct current (DC) voltage having a magnitude greater than or equal to a peak value of a desired alternating current (AC) voltage. The inverter circuit receives the DC voltage directly from the battery system, converts the DC voltage to an AC output voltage and outputs the AC output voltage to one or more outlets exposed on an exterior surface of the portable housing.
