  • Patent number: 7182327
Abstract: An elongate vise jaw plate assembly for mounting on a movable member of a vise is constructed to clamp many individual work pieces for machining. It enables clamping many pieces together in the vise even if their dimensions are not precise. It includes a base portion that is secured to a movable member of the vise. A work piece engaging portion is connected to the base portion by an elastic connector portion. The elastic connector and work piece engaging portions are slit into multiple segments, one for each work piece. Another work piece engaging portion is attached to a stationary member of the vise. Both work piece engaging members are machined to cooperate with work pieces. The work pieces are clamped between the two work piece engaging portions. Differences in the dimensions of the individual pieces are compensated for by the flexing of the connecting portions so that all the pieces are clamped securely for machining.

  • Patent number: 6957809
Abstract: A vise jaw assembly can be easily mounted on, and removed from, the jaws of a machine vise. A first reusable component bolts onto the face of a machine vise jaw. A second component is inexpensive and disposable. It is made by extrusion of an easily machinable material such as aluminum. It has a flat face that is designed to engage a flat face of the first component. It has an element extending from the flat face such as a dovetail element that slides laterally into a correspondingly shaped recess in the first component to complete a dovetail type joint. A slot below the recess in the first component is compressed by threaded fasteners to tighten the joint. The second component has a uniform cross section so that it may be produced by extrusion with minimal finishing except for cutting to length.

  • Patent number: 6896249
Abstract: A vise for holding more than one work piece on the support surface of a machine tool has a base for mounting on the support surface. More than one stationary jaws are fastened to the base. More than one movable jaws are slidably mounted on the base to move toward and away from the stationary jaws to securely hold at least one work piece between each pair of a stationary and a movable jaw. Movement of the each movable jaw is provided by a first mechanism that closes on the work piece snugly to accommodate minor variations in work piece dimensions. A second movement mechanism moves all of the movable jaws with great force including a spring bias to tightly clamp all of the work pieces at once with enough force to enable machine operations on the work pieces with no chance of their moving from the machining operations.
