  • Patent number: 5778150
Abstract: The method of the invention enables the situating of reasoning engines which have the capability to store premises as knowledge representation expressions, as well as to conclude knowledge representation expressions and/or to evaluate (or test), knowledge representation expressions and/or to respond to delivered directive events that request the engine to perform reasoning. The result of the method is a situated reasoning system which extends the given reasoning engine's functionality by augmenting it with procedural attachments, using zero or more provided attached procedures. This extension of functionality permits especially the capabilities for sensing and/or effecting and/or responding to delivered directive events. The method permits attachment of the attached procedures to be dynamic or static.

  • Patent number: 5747169
Abstract: The invention provides a method of bonding a glass substrate and a nonconductive substrate comprising the steps of: (a) contacting a surface of the nonconductive substrate which is coated with a field-assist bonding material with a conforming surface of the glass substrate; and (b) applying sufficient heat to the two substrates and sufficient voltage across the two substrates to bond the two substrates together.

  • Patent number: 5675319
Abstract: A tamper detection device can determine whether a housing containing a device has been tampered with either by having the housing penetrated or by an attempt to remove a cover from the housing. The tamper detection device may be a capacitor which is placed across a portion of the housing and whose capacitance changes if it is penetrated. The temper detection device may also be a flexible circuit having conductive strips thereon forming a circuit with means to cause an open circuit if the housing is penetrated or the cover removed from the housing.

  • Patent number: 5298010
Abstract: In one aspect, an article of manufacture constituting a flat planar sheet of material having slits cut therethrough in selected patterns to define the configuration of a subsidiary portion of the flat planar sheet of material, while means of attachment are provided at each change of direction of the perimeter of the subsidiary portion of the sheet. Formed in the flat planar primary sheet of material are lines of flexibility formed by linear compression over a very limited area of the flat planar sheet of material to diminish its thickness along the lines of fexibility thereby permitting flexure of the planar sheet of material along the lines of flexibility.

  • Patent number: 4375584
Abstract: A modular telephone keyset instrument is arranged within a rectangular casing having indentations in the top for receiving a telephone handset. Electrical (electronic) circuits are provided on a mother PC board, a daughter PC board and a key switch PC board, stacked within the housing from bottom to top, respectively. The daughter and keyset PC boards are connected to the mother PC board by ribbon cables. A hook switch, mounted on and attached to the daughter PC board extends through one of the indentations in the top to sense whether the telephone handset is placed in the indentations.
