    Abstract: A turboalternator and air flow control assembly for mounting on a combustion air intake of an internal combustion engine comprises a body having an inlet and an outlet defining an air flow path, a nozzle carrier in the body defining a plurality of turbine nozzles spaced arcuately about and generally parallel with a central axis, the nozzles having inlet and outlet ends and forming a portion of the air flow path, a rotor mounted in the body on bearings for rotation on the central axis, the rotor driving an electric generator and including a turbine wheel having blades axially adjacent and radially aligned with said nozzles, a bypass passage in the body and connecting the inlet and outlet separately from the nozzles, and a bypass valve in the bypass passage and operable to control air flow through said bypass passage. Various embodiments including concentric or parallel bypass passage arrangements and having axial or radial gap alternators with permanent magnet rotors are featured.

    Abstract: A laminated plate header, an evaporator and a method for making the same are disclosed. A plurality of plates, having passageways formed therein, are stacked together to form a laminate. The laminate is adapted to fluidly connect between a header inlet and core units of a heat exchanger in the evaporator. The plurality of plates are interleaved in a manner to index selected passageways of the plate such that refrigerant from the inlet is distributed through the passageways to the core units.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a pulley and bearing assembly for attachment to a cooling fan clutch of an internal combustion engine. The pulley is of polymeric construction, having a peripheral rim and an axial end integral therewith, the other end being open. It defines an internal chamber with guide ribs therein to locate the bearing assembly radially and axially within the chamber. The exterior has a belt engagement surface of desired type.The bearing assembly preferably has a wave form spacer for controlled spacing of individual bearing elements, and novel lubricant dispenser structure. The polymeric pulley can be of various forms combined with the bearing assembly which acts as a universal type bearing for fitting various type engines.

    Abstract: There is disclosed a vehicle engine shutter assembly, basically of polymeric material forming a peripheral frame, a plurality of vertical vanes which are rotatable on vertical axes between an open condition and a closed overlapping condition by a horizontally slidable actuator bar which has curvilinear recesses receiving curved lobes on the vane axles. The closed vanes preferably have notched, interfitting leading edges and trailing edges that interfit to form said traps to abate engine noise. The vanes and actuator bar are retained in position on the frame by a lock bar that has resilient legs than snap in place.

    Abstract: A line holder is provided which permits using one hand to selectively engage and disengage a line as it is unwound from a reel. A line lock in the form of a hook assembly is secured to the reel so that angular movement of the reel to first and second positions selectively engages the hook assembly with the line to prevent uncoiling the line and selectively moving the reel to the second and first positions releases the hooked line to permit uncoiling the line. A base is provided for mooring the line to a fixed position.
