  • Patent number: 6175499
Abstract: The locking member of a ZIF socket, which is movable between a locked position, in which high contact forces are present between contact springs within the socket and pins extending from an electronic module into the socket, and an unlocked position, in which the pins are released from the contact springs, is held in the locked position by means of a portion of a clamping spring inserted into a gap between the locking member and a portion of the housing of the ZIF socket. The clamping spring also holds a heat sink in place on the electronic module.

  • Patent number: 6166926
Abstract: In a tuned switch mode power supply, a supply inductance is coupled to a capacitance to form a tuned, resonant circuit. A transistor switch is coupled to the resonant circuit for generating current pulses in the inductance, coupled to a load circuit to provide an output of the power supply. Resonant voltage pulses are developed between a pair of main current conducting terminals of the transistor switch. A controller is coupled to the transistor switch for generating a switch control signal, during a run mode of operation. The transistor switch is turned on periodically, when the resonant voltage pulses reaches a zero voltage, to provide for zero voltage switching. The generation of the current pulses is disabled to provide for a burst mode operation, in a standby mode operation.

  • Patent number: 6004629
Abstract: A process for coating sheet metal is disclosed that comprises the steps of 1) cleaning the sheet metal to remove surface contaminants that may interfere with the coating adhering to the sheet metal; 2) pretreating the sheet metal to promote adhesion of the coating to the sheet metal; 3) applying an electron beam curable coating to the sheet metal that when curing is complete, adheres to the sheet metal; and, 4) exposing the coating on the sheet metal to an electron beam to cure the coating, the cleaning, pretreating and curing resulting in no emission of pollutants that need to be removed before the emission is released into the atmosphere.

  • Patent number: 5877946
Abstract: A forward converter includes a chopper transformer having a primary winding and one or more secondary windings. A corresponding rectifier and a corresponding filter capacitor is coupled to each secondary winding. An inductor is coupled in series with the primary winding. A low impedance current path that includes the corresponding rectifier is formed between each secondary winding and the corresponding filter capacitor. The inductor limits the rate of change of the current in each current path.

  • Patent number: 5841642
Abstract: In a tuned switch mode power supply a zero voltage is maintained across a transistor switch, during both turn off and turn on switching transition intervals in the transistor switch. The tuned switch mode power supply operates in a current-mode control, on a current pulse-by-current pulse control basis. A modulator of the power supply includes a pair of transistors that form a regenerative switch to produce a portion of a control signal of the transistor switch that causes the transistor switch to turn off. A transformer-coupled input supply voltage maintains the transistor switch conductive as long as the current in the transistor switch does not exceed the threshold level of a regenerative switch. A resonant pulse is transformer-coupled from the resonant circuit to the regenerative switch for turning off the regenerative switch and for maintaining the transistor switch non conductive after the regenerative switch is turned off.

  • Patent number: 5835361
Abstract: In a tuned switch mode power supply a zero voltage is maintained across a transistor switch, during both turn off and turn of switching transition intervals in the transistor switch. The tuned switch mode power supply operates in a current-mode control, on a current pulse-by-current pulse control basis. An over-current protection circuit disables the transistor switch when an over-current condition persist longer than a first interval that is substantially longer than a period of a given current pulse in the transistor switch. The operation of the transistor switch is undisturbed, when the over-current condition lasts only a shorter interval than the first interval.

  • Patent number: 5813093
Abstract: A hinge assembly which has a limited number of stable positions and in which the hinge automatically moves to the closest of such stable positions is disclosed. The movement of the hinge is accomplished in one illustrative embodiment by positioning the protrusion on one of a pair of ramps inclined opposite to one another and toward the adjacent recess so that the parts of the hinge rotate relative to one another, moving the protrusion into the adjacent recess. The protrusion is pressed against the ramps and the grooves by a connecting portion that joins the arm portions and is flexed when the hinge parts are assembled so as to bias the arm portions toward one another.

  • Patent number: 5805789
Abstract: Computer system element has a VLSI array with redundant areas and an ABIST (Array Built-In Self Test) system having mirror image fuse registers enabling scan of failed addresses to be used to replace hardware errors detected during power-on at a customer location. The ABIST controller allows self test functions (e.g. test patterns, read/write access, and test sequences) to be modified without hardware changes to the test logic. Test sequence is controlled by logical test vectors, which can be changed, making the task of developing complex testing sequences relatively easy and useful for enabling array self-tests to be performed in a customer's office at power-on reset.
