Publication number: 20220204870Abstract: Processes and systems for producing raw materials and for producing truly circular polymers. The systems and processes may include processing a waste-derived hydrocarbon stream, such as a waste plastic pyrolysis oil, in a first reactor system with a catalyst mixture, and processing a fossil-based feedstock in a second reactor system with the catalyst mixture. The catalyst mixture may be supplied to each of the first and second reactor systems from a common catalyst regenerator. An effluent comprising fossil-based hydrocarbon products may be recovered from the second reactor system, and an effluent comprising waste-derived hydrocarbon products may be recovered from the first reactor system. Following separations, spent catalyst from each of the first and second reactor systems may be returned to the common catalyst regenerator.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 6, 2021Publication date: June 30, 2022Applicant: LUMMUS TECHNOLOGY LLCInventors: Joaquim Antonio de Oliveira Portela, Rama Rao Marri, Willibrord A. Patent number: 11198108Abstract: Producing C5 olefins from steam cracker C5 feeds may include reacting a mixed hydrocarbon stream comprising cyclopentadiene, C5 olefins, and C6+ hydrocarbons in a dimerization reactor where cyclopentadiene is dimerized to dicyclopentadiene. The dimerization reactor effluent may be separated into a fraction comprising the C6+ hydrocarbons and dicyclopentadiene and a second fraction comprising C5 olefins and C5 dienes. The second fraction, a saturated hydrocarbon diluent stream, and hydrogen may be fed to a catalytic distillation reactor system for concurrently separating linear C5 olefins from saturated hydrocarbon diluent, cyclic C5 olefins, and C5 dienes contained in the second fraction and selectively hydrogenating C5 dienes. An overhead distillate including the linear C5 olefins and a bottoms product including cyclic C5 olefins are recovered from the catalytic distillation reactor system.Type: GrantFiled: October 13, 2020Date of Patent: December 14, 2021Assignee: LUMMUS TECHNOLOGY LLCInventors: Yongqiang Xu, Peter Loezos, Willibrord A. Groten, Romain Lemoine
