  • Publication number: 20190302022
Abstract: Disclosed is a localised surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) nanopillar assembly. The LSPR assembly is for use in sensing the presence of a biomarker when attached to a quantum dot. The LSPR assembly comprises a substrate and an array. The array comprises a LSPR nanopillar and a polymer spacer attached to the nanopillar. The LSPR assembly further comprises an antibody attached to the at least one polymer spacer. In the LSPR assembly, a combined height of the polymer spacer and antibody is selected by varying the number of monomer units of the polymer spacer, so that, when in use with the biomarker and the quantum dot, the quantum dot is at a predetermined distance from the nanopillar.

  • Patent number: 7245037
Abstract: An electric network for generation and transmission of electric power, including a power generating part, a point of common connection for the power generating part, a transmission link, a load network, and a reactive power compensator. The transmission link is coupled between the point of common connection and a grid connection point at the load network. The reactive power compensator is coupled to transmission link. The power generating part includes at least one wind turbine with an electric generator of induction type, coupled to the point of common connection. The reactive power compensator includes a capacitor bank and in parallel coupling to the capacitor bank a controllable inductor having a magnetic core, a main winding for alternating current, and a DC-control winding for direct current. The DC-control winding for control of the magnetic flux is set up by the main winding via orthogonal magnetization of the core.

  • Patent number: 4206561
Abstract: A fish hook extractor has an elongated body with a handle means at one end and, at the other end is disposed a fish hook gripping means for gripping the fish hook for removal from the fish. This latter means is shaped essentially like a 2-prong fork wherein each prong has parallel sides and the prongs are parallel to each other. Each prong is preferably wider in the dimension disposed in the plane of the prongs than in the thickness, i.e., in the dimension perpendicular thereto. The base where the prongs come together is formed into a semi-cylindrical surface and coaxial with this semi-cylindrical surface are formed opposing counter-sunk surfaces each disposed on one side thereof. The ends of each prong are tapered to a point wherein the points are disposed on the outer edges of the respective prongs.
