  • Patent number: 5370057
Abstract: A missile includes, as viewed successively in flight direction, a booster, a folded drag chute in a parachute housing, a cruise engine and a warhead. The booster is detachable from the drag chute before the opening of the drag chute and the drag chute is detachable from the cruise engine upon the activation of said cruise engine. The drag chute is accommodated in a parachute housing that is closed toward the booster and is open toward the cruise engine to which the booster is connected via a positive locking releasable due to axial tensile force. A separating charge for detaching the booster from the parachute housing is arranged between the booster and the base of the parachute housing at the booster side. The booster is connected to the parachute housing via a mechanical parachute release mechanism for releasing the drag chute from the parachute housing with a delay in comparison to the ignition of the separating charge.

  • Patent number: 5272981
Abstract: A projectile to be fired by a electric ignition defensive projector attached to an object to be defended has a propellant charge and an active charge and ignition devices for igniting the propellant and active charges. The active charge-ignition device is a mechanical ignition device including a firing pin and a firing pin spring. The mechanical ignition device is tensioned and released by a grappling line which is connected to the projector or a part of a projectile which remains in the projector, and is likewise connected to the firing pin. After the projectile has been fired and when it has travelled through a range of fire that corresponds to the length of the grappling line, then the firing pin spring is tensioned by the now taut grappling line and the firing pin is subsequently released which then ignite the active charge of the projector via a percussion cap and a pyrotechnical igniter train.

  • Patent number: 5269214
Abstract: A projector assembly of a defensive projecting device for containing a plurality of projectiles for defending a given object, the assembly including a plurality of projectors combined into a unitary magazine block which can be slid into a magazine carrier having a bottom plate and a magazine shoe, and locked in place. The magazine carrier is mounted on the object to be defended.

  • Patent number: 5213358
Abstract: An automatically detachable ski binding includes spaced apart and interconnected toe and heel portions mounted on a ski for holding a ski boot in place thereon. The ski binding includes a mechanical shoe clamping and release system and an electronic controller, the heel portion of the binding including a pivotable clamp with which a spring and a probe engage. The binding is designed in such a manner that the point of application of the probe on the clamp lies between the point of application of the spring on the clamp and the transverse axis about which the clamp pivots, and that the distance between the point of application of the probe and that of the spring and/or the prestress of the spring are selected in such a manner that in the point of application of the probe would specify the relationship, are the same between the desired release values of the vertical and the horizontal torque such that the two different torque values effect the same linear shifting movement of the probe.

  • Patent number: 4621579
Abstract: Device for producing a series of consecutive decoy clouds, in particular infrared decoy clouds which move progressively away from the actual target, in which several projectiles (A, B, C, D, E, F, G) are arranged within a thin walled discharge tube (1), each projectile is practically of identical construction and has a separate ignition disintegrator unit (10) for disintegrating it and for igniting and scattering the combustible charge (18) to form a decoy cloud, a separate ejection chamber (27) provided with a propellant charge cartridge (28) is provided on each projectile, each propellant charge cartridge (28) can be ignited via a separate electrically actuated ignition lead (5) by means of a command controlled ignition distributor unit (69) and each projectile has a separate percussion fuse (47) for the ignition disintegrator unit (10) which can be actuated by releasing its safety device (360 mechanically, its safety device (36) only being released after ignition of the propellant charge cartridge (28) wit

  • Patent number: 4370929
Abstract: A contact head for a projectile which is capable of being fired from an electrically actuable launcher comprises a solid metal core formed on one side with a recess for constituting a propellent charge chamber in which are located a propellent charge and a primer capsule. The recess is closed by a base plate having breakage points for the egress of gases generated by ignition of the charge. The part of the core surrounding the recess is formed with first and second sets of bores spaced equiangularly about the axis of the core for receiving connecting screws for connecting the, contact head to a projectile and for receiving fixing screws for fixing the base plate to the core, respectively. An elastic protective member coaxially surrounds the head and is preferably subdivided into three rings, e.g. of rubber, which carry two metallic contact rings connected to the primer capsule by firing circuit wires.

  • Patent number: 4173931
Abstract: An incendiary warhead comprises a destructible body carrying a plurality of stacked incendiaries. Each incendiary comprises a housing containing a compressed three-part icendiary filling. The filling comprises a flame substance for forming an intense flame, a thermit unit for forming a red-hot slag, and a combustion transfer substance which projects into both the flame substance and the thermit substance to be ignited by the former and ignite the latter. A tail unit is mounted at a top end of the housing to control the rate of descent of the incendiary. The tail comprises a hook, a pair of chains connected to the hook, and a vane connected to the free end of each chain. An anchor point extends from a bottom end of the housing and is in the shape of an arrowhead having barbed side edges.
