  • Publication number: 20080210514
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for applying a wear-resistant tribological coating to a sliding region of a synchronizer ring in which a thermally sprayed coating contains a maximum of approximately 40% by weight of solid lubricant, as well as to a synchronizer ring sliding region having a coating applied by such a process.

  • Patent number: 6354259
Abstract: A method for the manufacture of a cylinder liner for combustion engines and a cylinder liner which can be manufactured by the method according to the invention are disclosed. The method comprises a thermal spray-deposition, such as by an arc spray-deposition process, of a wearing layer on a supporting body and a spray-deposition of a protective or connecting layer on the wearing layer. The wearing layer comprises a hypereutectic aluminum-silicon alloy and the protective or connecting layer comprises a hypoeutectic aluminum-silicon alloy. A melt retarder of iron, for example, may be interposed between these two layers. The melt retarder comprises a higher melting temperature than the two aluminum-silicon alloys, thereby preventing the wearing layer from partially melting when the cylinder liner is cast into a cylinder bore.

  • Publication number: 20020028342
Abstract: A material wire for producing wear-resistant and tribologically favorable surface coatings from a supereutectic Al/Si alloy by thermal spraying. The material wire is a filling wire that has a sheath made of metallic aluminum and a filling made of one or more additional alloy components.
    Type: Application

  • Publication number: 20020006242
Abstract: The present invention relates to a synchronizer ring having an annular body which has a sliding region, the sliding region being provided with a wear-resistant tribological coating. According to the invention, it is provided for the tribological coating to be a thermally sprayed coating which contains a maximum of approximately 40% by weight of solid lubricant.
