  • Patent number: 10990632
Abstract: Search results can include, not only responsive content, typically in the form of documents, but can also include information regarding responsive entities, including tasks relevant to those entities, and can include identifications of individuals from whom additional information can be obtained, or who are otherwise relevant to the search. An association between entities and documents referencing those entities is identified and maintained. Documents responsive to a user's search query are identified utilizing existing algorithmic mechanisms and such identified responsive documents are referenced to determine whether they are associated with one or more entities. Additionally, a people/query mapping is maintained associating individual people with specific queries. User actions directed to one or more people in response to a query are utilized as a feedback loop.

  • Patent number: 9773045
Abstract: Search results may include both objective results and person results. In one example, a search query is evaluated to determine whether it is the type of query that a user might want to ask to a friend. If the query is of such a type, then the search engine may examine a social graph to determine which friends of the user who entered the query may have information that is relevant to answering the query. If such friends exist, then the friends may be displayed along with objective search results, along with an explanation of each friend's relevance to the query. Clicking on a person in the results may cause a conversation to be initiated with that person, thereby allowing the user who entered the query to ask his or her friend about the subject of the query.

  • Publication number: 20150169772
Abstract: Systems, methods, and media for responding to search queries from a computer user with personalized search results are presented. A user vector is generated for a user. The user vector is generated by repeatedly accessing a plurality of network sites to obtain user-generated content, and updating the user vector according to the user-generated content. Moreover, a plurality of search results is identified in response to a query. Each of the search results is associated with a score. A user vector is obtained and the scores of the search results are weighted. A subset of the search results having favorable scores is selected and a search results page is generated from the subset of search results. The generated search results page is returned in response to the search query.

  • Patent number: 8782033
Abstract: The present invention outlines a genuine entity following system that also addresses data source limitation. When reviewing entity-related objects in web content, a web user designates one or more entities to follow in real time. More particularly, the present invention is directed through strategic deployment of a dynamic crawler upon selection of a “follow” pointer over an object in a web browser such that a web user can automatically designate entities to be followed and receive alerts at predetermined temporal intervals when new information regarding such designated entities becomes available. A web entity engine of the present invention is designed to discover trending entities at any given time while generating output activity (i.e., signal) streams for this entity.
