    Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide methods and apparatuses for video encoding/decoding. In some examples, an apparatus includes processing circuitry. For example, the processing circuitry obtains reconstructed samples in a temporal source frame that is different from a current frame, and determines filter coefficients of a filter for a current block in the current frame based on at least the reconstructed samples in the temporal source frame. The processing circuitry generates prediction information of the current block based on the determined filter coefficients. The temporal source frame is an inter coded frame that satisfies at least one of a quantization parameter (QP) requirement, a temporal distance requirement, and a reference picture requirement.

In one aspect, a method includes obtaining video data including a syntax element with a corresponding alphabet of M elements, a first set of respective probabilities of occurrence for the M elements of the syntax element; and a second set of respective probabilities of occurrence for the M elements of the syntax element. The method further includes entropy coding a first portion of the video data in accordance with an aggregation of the first and second sets; and, while entropy coding the first portion of the video data, encountering a first syntax element. The method also includes updating the first set at a first rate and updating the second set at a second rate, faster than the first rate. The method further includes adaptively entropy coding a second portion of the video data.

The current block is partitioned into a plurality of sub-partitions based on the ISP mode. Each sub-partition is associated with at least one different reference sample. Residual information for each sub-partition is generated based on the at least one different reference sample associated with the respective sub-partition. The current block is encoded based on the determined prediction information and the generated residual information of the plurality of sub-partitions.

In some examples, an apparatus for video decoding includes processing circuitry that can decode coded information of a transform block (TB) from a coded video bitstream. The coded information indicates a region of the TB on which a secondary transform is applied. The region includes a first sub-region having transform coefficients calculated by the secondary transform and a second sub-region that is a zero-out region. In response to a determination that a neighboring transform coefficient is in the second sub-region and a current transform coefficient in the TB is not in the second sub-region, the processing circuitry determines the current transform coefficient according to a default value for the neighboring transform coefficient. The processing circuitry reconstructs a sample in the TB based on the transform coefficient for the sample.
