  • Patent number: 5176451
Abstract: A temperature sensor for use in a heating apparatus is disclosed. The temperature sensor includes a rigid cylindrical body and upper and lower plates disposed at one end of the rigid cylindrical body. A first electrical insulator is interposed between the upper and lower plates and has a recess filled with a second electrical insulator, in which a hot junction of a thermocouple is buried. Since the respective components are just in contact with each other without any bonding therebetween, there arises no stress in the temperature sensor even at high temperatures. Furthermore, even if a short circuit occurs in the thermocouple, data indicating the short circuit is output from the temperature sensor to the control system of the heating apparatus, thereby assuring safety in the operation of the heating apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5033671
Abstract: A hot-water and cold-water mixing device is provided wherein a hot-water side valve element and a cold-water side valve element are provided for regulating the respective flow rates of hot and cold water flows. The valve elements are constructed so as to possess a temperature regulating function exercised by varying the hot-water to cold-water mixing ratio depending on a biasing force, and also an automatic pressure regulating function to automatically accommodate any sudden pressure changes. The water mixing device of the foregoing construction is compact in size and is capable of adjusting the final water temperature reliably and speedily.

  • Patent number: 4896658
Abstract: A hot water supply system includes an arrangement for adjusting a temperature of water. A plurality of outlets are connected to water supplied objects. A change-over valve selects one of the outlets and supplies the water to the selected outlet. An outlet setting unit determines a target outlet selected from the outlets. A temperature setting unit determines a target temperature. A control unit controls the change-over valve and the temperature adjusting means in accordance with the target outlet and the target temperature.

  • Patent number: 4786782
Abstract: An instantaneous water heater with enhanced temperature control and less variation in output water temperature has an output hot water pipe extending into a heating tank through the top thereof and surrounded by a coiled sheath electric heater for heating the water in the tank, the output pipe extending to the tank bottom and provided with an inlet thereat. An inlet pipe for water to be heated extends into the bottom of the tank and is throttled to provide an accelerated flow of incoming water away from the heater and outlet pipe toward an overheat prevention thermostat mounted externally on the top of the tank and connected to the heater. An output hot water temperature sensor located within the output water pipe adjacent the inlet thereof cooperates with a control unit of regulating operation of the heater to maintain the hot water output temperature at a preset level.

  • Patent number: 4485296
Abstract: The automatic temperature control device for an electric appliance such as an electric blanket comprises a heater element, a sensor made of a thermosensitive material having an impedance, which changes as the temperature varies, for detecting the temperature of the heater element, switching means for regulating the supply of electric power to the heater element, and a plurality of electric circuits for driving the switching means in response to the output signal from the sensor. The plurality of electric circuits function to prevent the sensor from being polarized and to detect a temperature signal by applying thereto an alternating current, to detect a failure occurring in the electric circuits in synchronism with zero-crossing pulses, and to detect a failure occurring in the switching means, thereby assuring a safe operation of the automatic temperature control device against the occurrence of any failure.

  • Patent number: 4393858
Abstract: A combustion control system having incorporated therein an electronic circuit for driving and controlling a proportional control valve provided on a fuel supply line to control the amount of combustion and thereby maintain the temperature of fluid to be heated by combustion at a constant level even when the amount of the fluid varies per unit time. The output voltage of a bridge circuit including a sensor for detecting the temperature of the fluid as a component is fed to operation amplifiers for differentiating, integrating and proportional amplification to control the control valve with the resulting output. The system is best suited for use in instantaneous water heaters.

  • Patent number: 4170339
Abstract: An electromagnetic valve comprises a magnetic circuit formed by a stationary core and a movable core, or armature pivoted at one end of the stationary core and rotatable continuously between first and second positions with a free end positioned in opposed relation to the other end of the stationary core with an air gap therebetween. The armature is spring biased so as to remain in the first position and carries a valve head for engagement with a valve seat. The opposing ends of the stationary and movable cores are so shaped as to form in the air gap a first working section in which the main magnetic flux generates a vector component transverse to the length of the armature and a second working section in which the main magnetic flux generates a vector component parallel to the length of the armature. The resulting vector makes the angular displacement of the armature linearly proportional to the supply current.
