  • Publication number: 20030118450
Abstract: A hybrid compressor system affords maximum cooling capability by making full use of an additional motor to improve the fuel consumption efficiency of a vehicle while ensuring passenger compartment cooling when the engine is stopped. The hybrid compressor system includes a compression unit for compressing a refrigerant, a motor for driving the compression unit, and disconnection means for disconnecting the drive force of a vehicle engine. In the hybrid compressor system, when the thermal load of the refrigeration cycle system lies within a predetermined range in a higher load region, the control means connects the disconnection means to allow the vehicle engine to drive the compression unit. When the thermal load of the refrigeration cycle system lies within a lower load region of the predetermined range, the control means disconnects the disconnection means to allow the motor to drive the compression unit even while the vehicle engine is running.

  • Publication number: 20030101740
Abstract: In a hybrid compressor for a vehicle where a vehicle engine is stopped when the vehicle is temporally stopped, a pulley, a motor and a compressor can be driven in independent from each other, and are connected to a sun gear, planetary carriers and a ring gear of a planetary gear. A rotational speed of the motor is adjusted by a controller, so that a rotational speed of the compressor is changed with respect to a rotational speed of the pulley. Accordingly, production cost of the hybrid compressor and the size thereof can be reduced, while a cooling function can be ensured even when the vehicle engine is stopped.

  • Publication number: 20020157412
Abstract: An air-conditioner for use in an automotive vehicle, an engine of which is stopped every time the vehicle stops at an intersection, includes a usual refrigeration cycle having a main compressor driven by the engine and a sub-circuit having a sub-compressor driven by an electric motor. The sub-compressor is connected in parallel to the main compressor, and both compressors are alternately driven. Refrigerant mixed with lubricant circulating in the main refrigeration cycle is prevented from entering into the sub-circuit while the sub-compressor is not in operation by means of a piping structure of the sub-circuit. When the refrigerant enters into the sub-circuit, it is efficiently returned to the main refrigeration cycle by intermittently operating the sub-compressor while the main compressor is operating.

  • Patent number: 6118424
Abstract: A method simultaneously drives a plurality of lines of a display employing an antiferroelectric liquid crystal material. The polarity of the start of a waveform applied to a first one of the simultaneously selected lines is opposite to the polarity of the starts of waveforms applied to the other simultaneously selected lines. Each select period is divided into n sections. A data waveform applied to any one of data electrodes (column electrodes) of the display in synchronization with the select waveforms is determined according to column vectors of a unit matrix of n rows by n columns. The sign of a first one of the n column vectors is inverted. A maximum among voltages applied to pixels of the display must be sufficiently larger than the threshold of the ferroelectric liquid crystal material. The absolute value of the threshold is set between the sum of and the difference between the absolute values of the select and data waveforms.
