    Abstract: An optical fiber head includes an optical fiber, a lens, and a casing which accommodates and holds the optical fiber and the lens. The casing has a crimping portion which accommodates and holds the optical fiber when a part of the crimping portion in the axial direction of the casing is plastically deformed such that the crimping portion is virtually equally reduced in diameter in a circumferential direction. The part of the optical fiber which is held by the crimping portion has a coating to coat the core wire. The crimping portion is provided at a back end side of the casing at a distance from the place where a leading end face of the optical fiber is positioned along the axial direction of the casing.

A plurality of detecting units are disposed on the vehicle at different positions and configured to detect an object existing around the vehicle, respectively. If one of the detecting units detects the object, the one of the detecting units is referred to as specific detecting unit. An overlapping unit is configured to overlap an indicator represented in the form of a frame with the surrounding image. The indicator indicates the object and the specific detecting unit which has detected the object. A display unit is configured to display the surrounding image with which the indicator is overlapped.

The image composer uses, as the virtual projection surface, a special virtual projection surface that includes a curved area having an upward convex curve. The curved area includes an area where a distance from a location of the vehicle is relatively short and a slope is relatively high, and another area where the distance from the location of the vehicle is relatively long and the slope is relatively low.

    Abstract: A shift determining part of an image display system determines a traveling direction of a vehicle. A composite image generator generates a composite image that shows a periphery of the vehicle and an area that is in a direction opposite to the determined traveling direction of the vehicle in a seamless manner. The periphery is viewed from a virtual viewpoint that is set looking down at the vehicle. A display displays a display image including the composite image. Since the display image includes the composite image that shows the area that is in the direction opposite to the determined traveling direction of the vehicle, a user can notice an object that exists in the direction opposite to the traveling direction of the vehicle by looking at the display image.
