  • Patent number: 9283021
Abstract: There is provided a method of supplying cryoenergy to a plaque within a blood vessel. The method comprises expanding an expandable membrane of a catheter apparatus with a pressure of less than 5 ATM (507 kPa), the catheter apparatus having been placed in thermal contact with the plaque within the blood vessel. The method also comprises establishing a temperature of between +15° C. (288K) and ?35° C. (238K) at an interface of the expandable membrane and the blood vessel. A system and catheter apparatus are also provided.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 20, 2015
Date of Patent: March 15, 2016
    Assignee: Cryotherapeutics GmbH
Inventors: Maurice Buchbinder, Randell Louis Werneth, Yiannakis Petrou Yianni, J. Christopher Flaherty, Daniel Nahon, Domenic Santoianni

  • Patent number: 6521283
Abstract: A process for coating a blood-contacting surface comprising applying a solution of a fatty acid diester of phosphatidyl choline in an organic solvent to the surface and removing the solvent, provides a non-thrombogenic coating of phosphatidyl choline di-ester to the surface. Material for use in a blood-contacting device having such a coating and a blood-contacting device having such a coating.

Date of Patent: February 18, 2003
    Assignee: Biocompatibles Limited
    Inventor: Yiannakis Petrou Yianni
  • Patent number: 6083257
Abstract: A braided stent (1) for transluminal implantation in body lumens is self-expanding and has a radial expanded configuration in which the angle .alpha. between filaments is acute. Some or all of filaments (6,7) are welded together in pairs at each end (4,5) of the stent to provide beads (8), thereby strengthening the stent and assisting its deployment from a delivery device. The stent is preferably completely coated using a biocompatible polymeric coating, said polymer preferably having pendant phosphoryl choline groups. A method of making the stent by braiding and welding is described as well as a delivery device for deploying the device.
    Type: Grant

Abstract: A braided stent (1) for transluminal implantation in body lumens is self-expanding and has a radial expanded configuration in which the angle ? between filaments is acute. The present invention provides a biocompatible crosslinked coating and a crosslinkable coating polymer composition for forming such a coating.
