  • Patent number: 7391979
Abstract: An image processing apparatus is disclosed that, when falling in failures possibly being fixable by switching off/on electric power, is able to be automatically and appropriately rebooted and does not involve disagreement in counts of different counters used for management actions in the course of rebooting process. The image processing apparatus, which has hardware resources used for image formation and programs used for controlling the image formation, includes a failure detection unit to detect a rebooting failure from type A or D failures which are possibly fixable by switching off/on electric power of the image processing apparatus, and a reboot unit to reboot the hardware resources and the programs. The image processing apparatus may further include an operation halting unit to halt operations of the hardware resources and the programs when the rebooting failure is detected.

  • Patent number: 7382938
Abstract: In an image processing apparatus, a limit check procedure compares a capacity necessary for storing designated image files to be transferred and the residual memory capacity of a destination to which the image files should be transferred. The procedure determines whether or not the transfer of the image files is allowable on the basis of the result of comparison. This procedure is executed before and during the transfer of image files. The procedure executed before transfer obviates transfer failure when the image files are transferred to an external storage implemented by a CD-R or similar write limiting type of storing medium; in this case, the procedure is not necessary during transfer. In the event of transfer to a work memory built in the apparatus, even if transfer is allowed before transfer, the procedure is executed during transfer in order to produce an alarm when transfer becomes unallowable.

  • Patent number: 6832010
Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes a hard disk drive, an external image storing device for writing image data in a removable storing medium, and a memory for storing list data representative of a list of the image data stored in the hard disk drive or the storing medium. A main controller urges the operator of the apparatus to select, among the image data stored in the hard disk, desired image data to be written to the storing medium via an operation panel. When the image data selected are sequentially written to the storing medium, the main controller updates the list data of the memory every time one image data is written to the storing medium. After all the image data selected have been written to the storing medium, the controller updates the list data of the memory and causes the updated list data to be written to the storing medium.

  • Patent number: 6804024
Abstract: An image forming apparatus capable of printing a plurality of paginated original image information on a single paper sheet. The apparatus includes an image data generating device for generating, based on the original image information, integrated image data to be integrated into a single page. The image data generating device includes a division designating section for designating any one of images represented by the original image information as an image indicative of a division between chapters. The image designated by the division designating section is arranged in a particular image region in an integrated image page. The apparatus can therefore implement an integrated copy plus division mode not available with conventional image forming apparatuses. An image processing apparatus includes the above image forming apparatus.
