  • Publication number: 20030095229
Abstract: When radiating light onto a liquid crystal composition containing a photosensitive material, the alignment of liquid crystal molecules is adjusted by applying a voltage to the liquid crystal composition layer, to achieve substantially orderly alignment of the liquid crystal molecules, or the alignment of the liquid crystal molecules is made uniform by adjusting the structure of the liquid crystal display device, or any display defect is driven out of the display area. When radiating light to the liquid crystal composition containing the photosensitive material, the alignment of the liquid crystal molecules can be adjusted so as to achieve substantially orderly alignment of the liquid crystal molecules, and the liquid crystal display device can thus be driven stably.

  • Patent number: 6424398
Abstract: A liquid crystal material having a negative dielectric constant anisotropy is provided between first and second substrates and aligned homeotropically. Pixel electrodes each having a slit are provided on the first substrate. Color filters for giving red, green and blue are arranged in the pixels. A projection pattern is formed on the second substrate so as to divide the pixels into small areas. The slit of each pixel electrode is spaced from the projection pattern so as to divide, together with the projection pattern, the pixels into domains. The width of the slit of a pixel among the red, green, and blue pixels is different from that of the other pixel. The coloring of the display screen occurring during white display is suppressed.

  • Publication number: 20010026347
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device of the present invention has a structure in which vertically aligned liquid crystal is sealed between a TFT substrate and a CF substrate. Pixel electrodes in which slits are provided are formed on the TFT substrate, while cell gap holding spacers and domain defining projections are formed on the CF substrate. For example, positive type photoresist is coated on a common electrode. Then, first exposure is executed by using a mask for light-shielding spacer forming regions and projection forming regions, and then second exposure is executed by using a mask for light-shielding the spacer forming regions. Then, the photoresist is developed. Accordingly, the spacers and the projections, each having a different height, can be formed simultaneously.

  • Patent number: 5819246
Abstract: The present invention is intended to automatically select least required input items for a non-linear model and improve an efficiency of building up the non-linear model. For building up, for example, a neural network as the non-linear model, a group-by rule 105 and dividing point information 106 of the data are automatically generated by a group-by rule induction device 104 by selecting a dividing method option 101 and a group selection information 103 if data for learning 101 is given. An initial neural network model generating device 107 automatically generates an initial neural network model 108 from the group-by rule 105. The initial neural network model is learned in a neural network model learning device 111 and outputted as a post-learning neural network model 112. Data for learning with group information 110 which is the data for learning is generated in a data classification device 109 by using data for learning 102, group-by rule 105 and dividing point information 106.
