    Abstract: An enclosure system for protecting and securing an optical disk includes a tray adapted to house the disk, and a receptacle adapted to receive the tray and disk. The receptacle may be formed from a sheet of foldable material. The receptacle may include an extension for attaching the enclosure system to a retail delivery means, such as a magazine centerfold or a technical publication. The receptacle may also include retaining means for preventing the tray from moving with respect to the receptacle during the shipping and handling stages of product distribution. The retaining means may comprise an outer layer of thin sheet material wrapped around the receptacle or a glue spot securing inside surfaces of the foldable sheet together to secure the tray. The enclosure system may also include motion limiting means for limiting a distance by which the tray slides out of the receptacle and for preventing the tray from being completely removed from the receptacle when accessing the compact disk stored therein.

    Abstract: An injection molding machine has a die clamping apparatus which effects die closing, die clamping and die opening. A die open-side stop position can be accurately set without using any restricting mechanism such as a mechanical stopper and a position setting device. In addition to the die open-side stop position, a die opening operation stop position is set at a position offset by a preset amount from the die open-side stop position in a clamping direction. A deceleration start position is also set at a position offset by a preset amount from the die opening operation stop position in the clamping direction. When the movable die reaches the deceleration start position, a setting value of die opening speed is lowered. When the movable die reaches the die opening operation stop position, the operation for die opening is stopped so as to stop the movable die.

    Abstract: A protective cartridge for housing an information storage disk and a method for making the same is provided. Specifically, a shutter-lock adapted to lock a read/write shutter into a closed position is integrally formed with a shell which forms the cartridge. The shutter-lock is molded with the lower shell so as to form a unitary piece consisting of the shutter-lock and the cartridge shell. A method for manufacturing the protective cartridge having the shutter-lock formed integrally therewith is also provided.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a compact disk enclosure having an improved mounting hub for engaging a centralized hole in a compact disk. The hub may be molded directly onto base for securing the disk thereon, or alternatively, the hub may be molded into a tray which is adapted to be inserted and secured to the base portion of the enclosure. In a preferred embodiment, the hub engages substantially an entire circumference of the centralized disk hole. The hub structure generally includes cylindrical wall extending upward from a base portion of the enclosure. A plurality of radial slits extend radially outward from a center of the cylindrical wall for dividing the cylindrical wall into gripping teeth for engaging the centralized disk hole.

A motion limiting mechanism is formed along an entire length of a portion of the cover near the base tray for limiting the amount of rotation of the cover with respect to the base to approximately 180 degrees. The disk tray is adapted to snap securely into the base tray and includes a hub located in a cylindrical recess for engaging a centralized hole of the compact disk.

    Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for injection molding the shells of a mini-disk cartridge or the like. More particularly, the device includes a main cavity having a shape of mini-disk shell. The mold contains various projections and indentations on the first and second surfaces, respectively, which are adapted to form a shutter recess near a first edge of the lower shell, a read/write port for a media disk in a vicinity of the first edge within the shutter recess, a shutter guide track on the outer surface of the lower shell close to and parallel to the first edge, a drive port for rotating a media disk, and various fastening bosses for fastening the upper and lower shells of the mini-disk cartridge together. A single hot-runner valve gate is placed in the mold close to one corner such that small cavities within the cavity are filled with polymer melt first.

Depressed portions in the side portions of the flange and corresponding outer edges of the valve body may also extend through the length of the valve.
