  • Patent number: 5865482
Abstract: A magnetic lock device easily can be fastened to a fastening member on an object or article such as the flap of a handbag, thereby saving labor costs incurred in fastening the device to the object. Also, any thickened portion that may occur on a fastening member when the device is fastened to the object can be minimized. The magnetic lock device includes a first element incorporating a permanent magnet that acts as a magnetically attracting part and a second element that acts as a magnetically attracted part. The second element includes an attachment having pointed lugs shaped like saw teeth. A receiver having a curled edge formed as an arc in cross section inside and around a peripheral margin of a fastening side receives the pointed lugs extending through the fastening member.

  • Patent number: 5618071
Abstract: A fastening construction for an attachment device of a magnetic lock device including a first element and a second element which may be magnetically coupled and decoupled is disclosed. The fastening construction permits the attachment device to be fastened to either or both of the first and second elements by orientating the attachment in the particular direction relative to the first and/or second elements. The attachment device includes a base plate having a protrusion to be attached to one side of at least one of the first and second elements, and a pair of legs extending therefrom in parallel with each other. On one side of the first and/or second elements, and a pair of legs extending therefrom in parallel with each other. On one side of the first and/or second elements, a recess is provided for engaging the protrusion on the base plate therein, thereby securing the base plate in the fixed position and orientating the same in the particular direction with regard to the attachment device.

  • Patent number: 5473799
Abstract: A magnetic closure device is configured to allow for a reduction in the magnetic gap as well as for adding mechanical strength to a cover for enclosing the magnet supply and other associated parts on one of two separate elements. The magnetic closure device includes a first element and a second element which are magnetically and mechanically coupled together and may be detached. The first element A includes an annular member formed to have a thick wall and mounted around the cover. The annular member includes ornamentation at its surface. The annular member may be formed from brass or other nonmagnetic materials, including plastics.

  • Patent number: 5249338
Abstract: A magnetic lock device provides a powerful magnetic attraction by making full use of the magnetic lines of force provided by a permanent magnet without causing. A first part provides a magnetic attracting action, and a second part that is magnetically attracted by the first part. The first part includes a permanent magnet, a first ferromagnetic plate rigidly attached to one side of the permanent magnet, and a nonmagnetic enclosure for packaging the permanent magnet and the first ferromagnetic plate into one unit. The second part includes a second ferromagnetic plate detachably attached to the other side of the permanent magnet and has a ferromagnetic rod extending therefrom adapted to be inserted into center bores through the permanent magnet and enclosure for engaging the first ferromagnetic plate or its ferromagnetic rod.

  • Patent number: 5208951
Abstract: A magnetic lock device comprises two parts, one of which provides the magnetic attraction (referred to as "part A") and the other of which is magnetically attracted by the part A (referred to as "part B"). The part A includes a permanent magnet having a center bore, a first ferromagnetic plate, and a nonmagnetic enclosure having a center bore aligned with the center bore of the permanent magnet for packaging the permanent magnet and first ferromagnetic plate. The part B includes a second ferromagentic plate that can engage the first ferromagnetic plate. Specifically, the nonmagnetic enclosure has a depressed surface on the side on which the second ferromagnetic plate engages the first ferromagnetic plate and which provides a sliding surface for the second ferromagnetic plate to be guided directly toward the center bores of the enclosure and permanent magnet.

  • Patent number: 4991270
Abstract: A magnetic lock closure device has a magnetically attracting part and a magnetically attracted part, the magnetically attracting part having an enlarged portion extending outwardly for allowing the magnetically attracted part to engage the magnetically attracting part through the center bore on it by means of the ferromagnetic rods on the two parts, without making any attempt to search for the center bore. Each of the magnetically attracting part and magnetically attracted part includes a fastener for fastening it to the corresponding part of a two-part article such as a bag without increasing the thickness of that part.

  • Patent number: 4850138
Abstract: A door for use in a building, which includes a door frame defining an opening, and a louver arranged in the opening of the door frame. The louver includes a plurality of slats aligned parallel to each other. Each of the slats is connected at its opposite ends to the door frame so that the slat is pivoted about an axis generally coincidental with its centerline. The door also includes an adjusting assembly for pivoting the slats, and a connecting member for connecting all the slats. The adjusting assembly includes a rotatable lug member connected to one of the slats so that the slat is pivoted when the lug member is rotated. Due to the connecting member, the slats are simultaneously pivoted in the same direction when one of the slats is pivoted.
