  • Patent number: 6895917
Abstract: An automatic stop/start controller for an engine, having an air conditioner which employs a coolant or driving force of the engine to control the air in a driver's compartment. The engine can be stopped and started without operation of an ignition key. After a predetermined automatic stop condition is satisfied and the engine is automatically stopped, a control unit maintains the engine in a stopped state as long as the duration of an automatic stop of the engine is shorter than an automatic stop maximum time set based on air temperature at an inlet of the air conditioner.

  • Publication number: 20050107211
Abstract: A select control system for a vehicle transmission includes a gate mechanism having plural gates respectively selected upon a shift operation and having at least an actual gate, a temporary target gate, and a target gate, a select position determining mechanism adjusted to move the actual gate to the target gate along a select direction of the gate mechanism, and a select control element adjusted to control the select position determining mechanism. The select control element performs a temporary target gate remaining process in which the actual gate temporarily remains at the temporary target gate and moves to the target gate.

  • Publication number: 20040250642
Abstract: At least one shift gate includes a stabilizing range for stabilizing an engagement between the engaging portion and the at least one shift gate. The system stops movement of the movable member by driving the actuator and determines a portion at the movable member as a shift gate reference position at a time when the movement of the movable member stops. The system moves the movable member by driving the actuator, stabilizes the engaging portion in the stabilizing range, and determines the stabilizing position of the engaging portion as a position of the at least one shift gate.

  • Publication number: 20040159479
Abstract: An automatic stop/start controller for an engine which automatically stops and starts the engine without operation of an ignition key. In automatically stopping the engine without operation of the ignition key, a control means prevents an automatic stop of the engine if a direction indicator of the vehicle is activated. If the direction indicator is activated after the engine is automatically stopped, the control means immediately automatically starts the engine without operation of the ignition key. The control means also prevents an automatic stop of the engine unless the distance traveled by a vehicle, after the engine has automatically started, is greater than a predetermined automatic stop prohibit distance.

  • Publication number: 20040153236
Abstract: An automatic stop/start controller for a vehicle having an engine, an electric motor to drive the engine, and an automatic transmission. The automatic stop/start controller permits the engine to stop or start without operation of an ignition key. The controller starts fuel supply to the engine after the engine is started by the electric motor and when it is determined that frictional engaging elements of the automatic transmission are engaged, in a case where the engine is started without the operation of the ignition key.

  • Publication number: 20040149502
Abstract: An electric power regeneration control unit is provided for a hybrid vehicle having a motor generator, a fluid torque converter, a lockup clutch, and a controller. The motor generator functions as a generator operated by driving force received from an engine or drive wheels. The fluid torque converter is disposed between the motor generator and the drive wheels. The lockup clutch engages or disengages rotational members on input and output sides of the fluid torque converter, and is engaged or partially engaged after canceling fuel cut and increasing intake air quantity for the engine when an accelerator is released within a range in which the lockup clutch can be engaged or disengaged. The controller enables the motor generator to generate electric power by the force received from the drive wheels when the accelerator is below a certain opening angle. The controller is provided with an engagement finish determining device to determine whether engagement of the lockup clutch is finished.

  • Publication number: 20040153231
Abstract: An automatic stop/start controller having an engine, a motor generator to drive the engine, and an automatic transmission. The automatic stop/start controller permits the engine to stop and start without operation of an ignition key. At start of the engine by not operation of the ignition key and after the engine is started to drive by the motor generator, a control means corrects to increase the torque generated by the motor generator according to the degree of the engagement of frictional engaging elements of the automatic transmission.

  • Publication number: 20040148072
Abstract: A controller for a hybrid vehicle in which the torque is output from an engine and/or an electric motor and is transmitted to drive wheels through a fluid torque converter and a transmission. The controller includes a motor output torque limiter to restrict the output torque from the electric motor such that the torque increased by the fluid torque converter does not exceed permissible torque which is acceptable for the transmission to receive when the electric motor in addition to the engine is driven.

  • Publication number: 20040148071
Abstract: In a controller unit for a hybrid vehicle, a generation controller controls the quantity of electric power generated by a motor generator, and a fuel cut controller stops fuel supply to the engine if a predetermined fuel cut condition is satisfied. The generation controller controls so that the quantity of electric power generated is set at predetermined values according to the engine speed, and is set at different values, at the same engine speed, according to whether the fuel cut occurs or not. Thus, the quantity of power generation does not decrease more than needed to prevent engine stall. When the fuel cut is not performed, the generation controller in particular increases the quantity of power generation, which charges the battery more and reduces fuel consumption.
