Abstract: A manual sweeping apparatus having a housing, an image sensor, a printer, and a memory. As the housing is manually swept across an original, while keeping the housing in contact with the original, information read by the image sensor is written into the memory. Thereafter, as the housing is manually moved across a piece of recording paper, while keeping the housing in contact with the paper, the information is read out from the memory and subsequently printed on the paper. During the data-reading operation, the apparatus detects and indicates whether or not any unwritten memory area exists in the memory. During the data-printing operation, the apparatus detects said indicates whether or not any items of data to be printed are stored in the memory.

Abstract: A dot matrix type multi-layered liquid crystal display device has at least two liquid crystal display sections. Each liquid crystal display section has a dot matrix of transparent electrodes, and the individual liquid crystal display sections are arranged in layers such that their respective dot matrices of transparent electrodes overlie one another.

A detection circuit detects a program number corresponding to the program data read out of the program data memory, and used and/or unused program numbers are displayed in the prescribed form by control circuits.

Abstract: A programmable calculator with a device for controlling the reading of program data comprises an input section including at least one key for designating program data, a memory section for storing the program data, a program data reading section for reading the program data from the memory section, and a display section for displaying the program data. The apparatus further comprises a detecting section for detecting that the key has been depressed for a time longer than a predetermined one. When the detecting section produces an output signal, the program data reading section is so controlled as to continuously read the program data from the memory section.
