  • Patent number: 4714592
Abstract: An improved reactor is disclosed wherein a high temperature product gas discharged from a catalyst bed within the reactor is cooled in a central heat exchanger installed within the reactor by heat exchange with a low temperature feed gas comprising gaseous raw materials for the reaction, and the product gas is thereafter flowed along the inner surface of an outer pressure vessel in order to maintain the outer pressure vessel at a low temperature. Inlet and outlet pipes for a coolant which coolant is circulated through a coolant passage structure which penetrates the catalyst bed in order to absorb the heat of reaction, both penetrate the top cover of the outer pressure vessel so that the coolant passage structure can be readily removed for maintenance and inspection, and the overall design of the reactor is simplified.

  • Patent number: 4431049
Abstract: A heat exchanger according to the present invention is provided with bayonet tubes in its shell. One end of each of bayonet tube outer ducts is secured to and open at a tube sheet fixed at one end of the shell. One end of each of bayonet tube inner ducts is secured to and opened to a hot gas separation chamber. The other ends of inner and outer duct communicate with each other. A hot gas separation chamber is provided inside the tube side pressure drum which is attached to and in contact with the tube sheet. Such construction of a heat exchanger according to the invention as this prevents thermal stress from arising, rendering the design of economical and reliable heat exchangers possible.

  • Patent number: 4368778
Abstract: Tubes are positioned in a shell of a heat exchanger, hot fluid flowing through the tubes. An inlet of each of the tubes for hot fluid is opened to a separate section which is provided with a clearance from a thick tube sheet secured to the shell. An inlet and outlet port of each of the tubes are positioned alternately at the tube sheet. By the provision of the separate section and alternate positioning of inlets and outlets of tubes, thermal stress arising in the thick tube sheet is made very small.

  • Patent number: 4361850
Abstract: A color television receiver has a decoder for producing red, green and blue driving currents which are applied to red, green and blue control circuits, respectively, for combining these three colors to establish one of seven colors on a screen of a cathode ray tube in accordance with a received signal. A current divider is connected between the decoder and each of the red, green and blue control circuits for dividing each of the driving currents into a plurality of current components having different levels. The current components are combined with each other in a combination defined by the received signal for producing a predetermined level of color driving current so that all the colors can be reproduced with a predetermined level of brightness.

  • Patent number: 4295224
Abstract: Tuning indicator apparatus is provided for use with a frequency synthesizer tuner of the type having a phase-locked loop including a reference oscillator, a variable frequency oscillator to produce a local oscillating signal, a programmable frequency divider coupled to the variable frequency oscillator for dividing the frequency of the local oscillating signal by a variable dividing ratio to produce a frequency-divided oscillating signal, a phase comparator for comparing the frequency-divided oscillating signal to the output of the reference oscillator to produce an error signal, and a feedback circuit for feeding back the error signal from the phase comparator to the variable frequency oscillator to adjust the frequency of the local oscillating signal and thereby establish a tuning condition of the tuner. The tuning indicator apparatus includes a counter for counting counter pulses supplied thereto, the count of this counter determining the dividing ratio of the programmable frequency divider.

  • Patent number: 3949303
Abstract: A radio receiver is provided having a selectively tunable tuner section and a second tuner section which may be preset to receive the signal transmitted from a single transmitting station. A single output amplifier (including intermediate frequency and audio frequency) is included which is connected to a loud speaker. The first selectively tunable tuner may be connected to the amplifier either by a manually actuated switch or by a clock controlled timer actuated switch through a two position snooze switch. The preset tuner is connected to a timer controlled switch and through the snooze switch to the amplifier. When the snooze switch is turned on, it is not possible to connect the first tuner to the amplifier, but the second tuner is connected provided the timer has not opened the second tuner circuit.
