    Abstract: Sounded reproduction of basic sound data indicating a game sound to be reproduced in a video game and sound deadening reproduction of coda data indicating coda used as a termination sound are started when it becomes predetermined reproduction start timing in the video game to reproduce the basic sound data and the coda data in synchronization with each other. By referring to marker data indicating a plurality of markers when it becomes predetermined reproduction end timing in the video game, switching timing to switch reproduction modes and stop timing to stop reproducing are determined. When it becomes the switching timing, the sounded reproduction of the basic sound data and the sound deadening reproduction of the coda data are respectively switched into sound deadening reproduction and sounded reproduction. The reproduction of the basic sound data and the coda data is stopped when it becomes the stop timing.

    Abstract: The present invention improves a processing speed by combining simple sound source species with a basic configuration and processing the combination as a single sound source when sound sources and sound fields are placed and formed in a three-dimensional virtual space. For example, a sound source object with a complicated shape, such as a river, includes first sound source objects with shapes of rectangular parallelepipeds and second sound source objects with shapes of triangular prisms. The first and second sound source objects have the same identification numbers and have sound data related to a sound of the sound source object with the complicated shape, such as a babbling sound of the river. When one of the first and second sound source objects is the closest to a player character, sound generation processing is executed based on that sound source object.

Polygons of the object are added to a sort table as usual, whereas polygons of the dummy object are added to the sort table after such a shift of the first address of the sort table as to locate them behind their actual depth value with respect to the view point. Since the polygons are drawn from the farthest polygon from the view point in the sort table, the object is drawn over the dummy object. In the last stage the dummy object remains only in the part projecting outside the object and the part is drawn in a brighter color than the object.

The method also includes provisionally dividing that quadrilateral polygon into two triangular planes by a separating line connecting two facing vertexes, and judging if the two triangular planes form a convex shape facing the outside of the three-dimensional object. The method also includes dividing the quadrilateral polygon by that provisional division pattern if forming a convex shape, and dividing the quadrilateral polygon by another division pattern using a separating line connecting the remaining two vertexes if forming a concave shape so that the two triangular planes form a convex shape facing the outside of the three-dimensional object.

Since the polygons are drawn in order from the most distant polygon in the sort table from the view point, the object is written over the contour-drawing object. Finally, there remains only the contour part of the contour-drawing object surrounding the entire edge of the object, outside the object and the contours are drawn in the contour color.
