  • Patent number: 4624809
Abstract: The invention provides method and apparatus for forming upper stops of a concealed type slide fastener. A concealed type slide fastener comprises a pair of fastener stringers each consisting of a fastener tape having a turn-up along one side thereof and fastener elements of thermoplastic resin secured to the turn-up. Portions of the elements are fused to form upper stops. In the method and apparatus of the invention, a pair of spaced projections are formed on a base and placed with respect to fastener stringers of a slide fastener or continuous fastener chain so that the projections pass between the stringers. The fastener elements are urged toward the projections while portions of the projections engage the arrest the element-mounting-side margins of the tapes to expose the interengaging heads of the elements so that only the interengaging heads are fused.

  • Patent number: 4580711
Abstract: A gripper device which is a part of a slide-fastener finishing apparatus and which is used to grip and take out completed fasteners successively by grippers reciprocally moved along the fastener flow direction. The improvement comprises placing a driven belt-like member in an endless fashion over two rotation wheels, the wheels being positioned on an extended line of fastener flow at predetermined intervals, mounting two gripper-equipped members on the belt-like member at equal intervals, each gripper equipped member including a gripper which is movably mounted so as to be able to align with the center of the completed fastener outlet port, moving each gripper-equipped member to the completed fastener outlet port by rotating the rotation wheels in forward and reverse directions, and then gripping and taking out the completed fasteners with each gripper.

  • Patent number: 4381593
Abstract: There is disclosed an apparatus for applying top end stops to a fastener stringer chain substantially in a continuous cycle of operation, wherein a first means is provided to effect the fusing and shaping of a strip of plastic film for application to the chain and a second means is provided to effect the cutting of the chain to which the film strip has been applied in the form of a top end stop. Said first and second means are arranged so that both shaping and cutting take place at the same working station without having to transfer the chain for the two different operations.

  • Patent number: 4292733
Abstract: An apparatus for coupling a pair of elongate slide fastener stringers while being fed longitudinally along a pair of respective paths, comprises a pair of first spaced rolls rotatable on a first shaft on a frame, a pair of second spaced rolls rotatable respectively on a pair of second shafts on the frame, which extend transversely to the first shaft, a pair of third rolls rotatable respectively on a pair of third shafts on the frame, which extend substantially parallel to the second shafts and are spaced from each other by a greater distance than that between the pair of second shafts, and a pair of fourth spaced rolls rotatable respectively on a pair of fourth shafts on the frame, which extend transversely to the third shafts. A coupling member on the frame has a pair of converging guide channels for meshing the stringers as they are withdrawn therethrough by withdrawing means.
