  • Patent number: 10173498
Abstract: A first sensor measures temperature at a first evaporator that cools a first zone. A second sensor measures temperature at a second evaporator that cools a second zone. A controller operates a compressor in a normal cooling mode or a single zone cooling mode. In the normal cooling mode, both the first zone and the second zone are cooled with the compressor operated by the controller in response to temperature measurements from one or both of the first sensor and the second sensor. In the single zone cooling mode, only the second zone is cooled with the compressor controlled by the controller in response to temperature measurements from the second sensor and the controller determining that the first evaporator has a low probability of accumulating frozen moisture on surfaces thereof, and in response to determining a high probability of accumulating frozen moisture on surfaces thereof the compressor is not operated.

  • Patent number: 9493050
Abstract: An air conditioning system for a vehicle includes an air conditioning unit mounted in a front side of the vehicle to condition air in a front seat area, a rear air outlet, a rear duct to connect the air conditioning unit and the rear air outlet, a rear fan provided near the rear air outlet to draw air from the air conditioning unit via the rear duct so that the air is blown from the rear air outlet, an air inlet provided in the rear duct to draw air from a cabin of the vehicle into the rear duct, and a door structure provided at the air inlet to adjust an opening level of either or both of the air inlet and the rear duct so as to adjust an air intake amount from the air conditioning unit and an air intake amount from the air inlet.

  • Patent number: 8838369
Abstract: An idling stop control unit (ISCU) provided in a vehicle including an air conditioner (S) which controls an air conditioning state of a passenger compartment of the vehicle. The idling stop control unit includes: idling stop prohibiting means for canceling idling stop to restart an engine (10) and prohibiting execution of idling stop when a switch for changing the air conditioning state is operated during idling stop in which the engine (10) is stopped when the vehicle is at a stop; and idling stop enabling means for automatically lifting the prohibition and enabling execution of idling stop when a predetermined condition is met.
