  • Patent number: 9699245
Abstract: An apparatus and method allowing for high-quality data acquisition and playback processing based on content information transmitted from a server to a client are provided. Property information constituting meta-information corresponding to content-associated attribute information stores data-scheme information on original content held by the server, such as file format information, codec information representing an encoded-data scheme, and resolution information. In response to a content information acquisition request from the client, content information including the data-scheme information on the original content is generated and is transmitted to the client. This structure allows the client to output a content transmission request in which the optimum data scheme is determined based on the data scheme of the original content. Therefore, high-quality data acquisition and playback can be achieved.

  • Patent number: 7890580
Abstract: To further correctly obtain related information about contents being received from a server. A communication apparatus 1 successively transmits request information that requests related information about contents being received via a network 30, at specified intervals (S1), receives related information corresponding to that request information (S2), temporarily stores (S3), displays it (S4), and performs contents updating processing. Here, if a direction to store the related information about the contents is entered, the communication apparatus 1 requests again request information for related information about contents, separately from the contents updating processing (S10). Then, the communication apparatus 1 receives related information corresponding to that request information (S11), and stores it (S13). This enables the latest related information to be further correctly obtained out of related information concerning contents, and obtaining related information before updating is reduced.

  • Patent number: 7752289
Abstract: An apparatus and a method capable of efficiently and accurately constructing an access control configuration having high security are realized. Only the MAC address of a controller (client) 351 authorized by a user is authenticated and registered in a MAC address table of a device 352, and the device 352 performs MAC address filtering for permitting access by the controller 351 (client) which is authenticated and registered in the MAC address table. Furthermore, by making a registration completion notification and by performing version adjustment, a reliable access control configuration is constructed. The device authentication apparatus 350 avoids access from an unauthorized party which is not authenticated and registered, and makes the presence of a server not known to the controller which attempts to illegally perform device authentication. Therefore, access control with high security is realized.

  • Patent number: 7408954
Abstract: In order to prevent interruption of processing at the time when the format of data changes during transmission of streaming data over an IEEE 1394 or other network, when streaming data output from first equipment is caused to be received by second equipment via a prescribed network, when the streaming data output from the first equipment changes from content A in a first format to content B in a second format, after the end of output of content B invalid data in the same format as content B is output, and during output of this invalid data the first equipment investigates the state of the second equipment (steps S11 to S14); when it is detected that preparations for input of streaming data in the second format are completed, output of content B in the second format is begun.

  • Patent number: 7191267
Abstract: An electronic device system of the invention has a controlling device and a controlled device interconnected via a data bus which complies with a predetermined communication format and which allows data to be exchanged between the devices. In a command transmission/reception transaction, the controlling device transmits a command to the controlled device. If an interim response is returned from the controlled device, the controlling device regards the transaction as complete and terminates the process without waiting for receipt of a final response from the controlled device.

  • Patent number: 7181299
Abstract: The present invention makes it possible to readily judge details of data transmitted through a bus line, such as channel structure, at a receiver's end. When data is transmitted in a predetermined format with units having a predetermined data length among devices linked to a bus line, the data is transmitted by setting up a section for transmitting auxiliary data of transmission data in a unit having the predetermined data length, and placing identification data related to spatial placement of the transmission data in a first section within the section for transmitting the auxiliary data, and data related to set-up of the transmission data in a second section within the transmitting section.

  • Patent number: 6993606
Abstract: A sink apparatus receives stream data outputted from a source apparatus connected to a predetermined network. When the source apparatus or an other apparatus connected to the network transmits a command to configure a data input section of the sink apparatus to input data outputted from the source apparatus, data are prepared to indicate that a configuration of the data input section is at least temporarily disabled as a response from the sink apparatus. When the apparatus that transmitted the command receives the data indicating that the configuration is at least temporarily disabled corresponding processing may be executed. When stream data are transmitted through a network it can be easily determined by an other apparatus on the network whether the sink apparatus is ready to input data.
