Abstract: An apparatus for monitoring surroundings of a vehicle provides images around the vehicle to allow a driver to more easily monitor the surroundings of the vehicle. The apparatus for monitoring surroundings of a vehicle includes an imaging device that acquires an original image for at least one direction around the vehicle; an image processor configured to extract a monitoring image corresponding to a set area in the original image; and an image display that outputs the extracted monitoring image. The image processor is configured to display a guide map that indicates a relative positional relationship between the original image and the monitoring image on the monitoring image.
