Abstract: A rechargeable battery includes: a bare cell; a protection circuit board installed on an upper surface of the bare cell; and a lead plate to connect the protection circuit board with the bare cell, wherein the lead plate includes a substrate fixing part fixed to the protection circuit board, a bare cell fixing part fixed to the bare cell, and a connection part to connect the substrate fixing part with the bare cell fixing part, the lead plate being installed such that the connection part is disposed between the protection circuit board and the upper surface of the bare cell. A welding strength is improved when the lead plate connecting the bare cell with the protection circuit board is installed, thereby prominently reducing defects in manufacturing packs and modules.

Abstract: A protective circuit module including a layered insulating substrate, a printed circuit pattern disposed within the insulating substrate, and a loop antenna electrically connected to the printed circuit pattern. Ends of the loop antenna can be inserted into the insulating substrate and connected to the printed circuit pattern. Portions of the printed circuit pattern may extend out of the insulating substrate, and may be connected to the loop antenna. The protective circuit module can be included in a secondary battery pack comprising a secondary battery. The loop antenna can be adhered to the secondary battery.

Abstract: A side case coupled to a secondary battery in a sliding manner to cover sides of the secondary battery. The secondary battery includes: a rectangular prism battery body; a guide member arranged in a lengthwise direction of one of the pair of the sides of the battery body; a first side case that includes a horizontal portion that is coupled to the guide member to cover one of the horizontal sides of the battery body and a vertical portion that is connected to one end of the horizontal portion to cover at least a portion of an adjacent side of the battery body; and a second side case that is coupled to the battery body, and includes vertical and horizontal portions that are generally symmetric to the vertical portion and the horizontal portion of the first side case and a plurality of terminal holes formed in the horizontal portion.

Abstract: A protective circuit module of a secondary battery and a secondary battery using the same, the protection circuit module including a positive temperature coefficient (PTC) device and a circuit board, wherein terminals of the PTC device are inserted into the circuit board to be coupled with connection terminals of the circuit board so that workability is improved and manufacturing costs are reduced. The secondary battery sensitively reacts to a temperature increase of the secondary battery by installing the PTC device on the upper or lower side of the circuit board, or extending one terminal of the PTC device to a bare cell of the secondary battery.

Abstract: A pack type battery includes a bare cell having a top edge, a bottom edge, and opposing side surfaces. A protective circuit module is electrically coupled to the bare cell by a lead plate. A substrate cover is attached to the bare cell and covers the protective circuit module. A pair of elongate cell covers are provided, each elongate cell cover including a base for covering an edge of the bare cell and a skirt extending from longitudinal edges of the base for covering a portion of the opposing side surfaces. A label covers the opposing side surfaces of the bare cell and the skirt of each elongate cell cover.

Abstract: A secondary battery that can simplify manufacturing of an assembly of a bare cell and a protection circuit module, and reduce manufacturing costs by installing a connecting member of a protection circuit module electrically coupled to a bare cell in one direction of the bare cell. The secondary battery may be constructed with a bare cell; a protection circuit module installed on one edge side surface of the bare cell; first and second electrode terminals included in the bare cell; and first and second lead plates respectively configured to electrically couple the protection circuit module to the first and second electrode terminals, wherein the first and second lead plates are installed on the same single side edge surface between side surfaces of the bare cell.

Abstract: A protection circuit board for a secondary battery is constructed with an electrically insulating substrate, a printed circuit board pattern formed on the electrically insulating substrate, a protection circuit part electrically connected to the printed circuit board pattern, a charge-and-discharge terminal formed on the electrically insulating substrate and electrically connected to the printed circuit board pattern and the protection circuit part, and a test terminal formed on the electrically insulating substrate and electrically connected to the printed circuit board pattern and the protection circuit part. The test terminal is constructed with an electroless plated layer formed on the test terminal.

Abstract: A connection terminal of a secondary battery and a secondary battery using the same, and more particularly, to a connection terminal and a secondary battery using the same that have the anti-press function and the support function of a protection circuit board as well as the function of electrically connecting a bare cell with the protection circuit board. A connection terminal is installed between one side of a bare cell and a protective circuit board and includes a connection part that is connected with one electric terminal of the protective circuit board and a support part, and the support part has a horizontal support part that is fixed to one side of the bare cell and a vertical support part that connects the horizontal support part with the connection part.

Abstract: A secondary battery capable of assembling a bare cell and a protective circuit module (PCM) in a manner of mechanical connection without performing a molding is provided. The secondary battery includes a bare cell whose top surface is provided with an electrode terminal having a polarity, a first case covering the top surface of the bare cell, a second case covering a first side surface of the bare cell, a first lead tab coupling the electrode terminal to the PCM, and a second lead tab coupling a surface of the bare cell having another polarity to the protective circuit module. Both of the first and the second lead tabs are covered by the first case.

Abstract: A secondary battery with a protective circuit module including a rechargeable bare cell having a first electrode and a second electrode and a protective circuit board having a protective circuit for the rechargeable bare cell. A conductive bonding layer is located on the protective circuit board and a secondary protective element assembly is attached to the protective circuit board by the conductive bonding layer. A first lead plate electrically connects the secondary protective element assembly to the first electrode, and a second lead plate electrically connects the protective circuit board to the second electrode.
