  • Publication number: 20090074619
Abstract: A device for measuring total organic carbon includes an organic substance oxidative decomposition section (4) for converting organic carbon contained in sample water into carbon dioxide, a carbon dioxide extraction section (6) for extracting carbon dioxide generated in the organic substance oxidative decomposition section (4) into measurement water, and a detection section for measuring the conductivity of the measurement water discharged from the carbon dioxide extraction section (6) to determine the amount of the extracted carbon dioxide. A syringe pump (12) is provided downstream of the detection section (11) in a measurement flow path (16) through which measurement water flows to pass through the carbon dioxide extraction section 6 and the detection section (11). The flow rate of measurement water during measurement of conductivity in the detection section (12) is controlled by suction into the syringe pump.

  • Publication number: 20080220533
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method for measuring total organic carbon without the influence of nitrogen components. The method for measuring total organic carbon includes the steps of: (1) adjusting the hydrogen ion concentration of sample water to between pH 4 and pH 6; (2) decomposing organic matter and nitrogen compounds contained in the sample water into carbon dioxide and nitrous acid, respectively, through oxidation and; (3) making the carbon dioxide permeate into measuring water via a gas-permeable part 5a; (4) and measuring the electric conductivity of the measuring water to determine the total organic carbon content of the sample water.

  • Patent number: 7362438
Abstract: A COD conversion equation holding unit in a computing unit of a COD measuring device holds a COD conversion equation that indicates a relationship between total-absorbance that is linearly combined by multiplying an absorbance value at each of a plurality of wavelengths by a weighting factor and a COD value, and a conversion unit finds a converted COD value by using the COD conversion equation, and outputs the resulting value. Preferably, a COD conversion equation calculation unit calculates a COD conversion equation based upon the relationship between the total absorbent and an actual measured COD value in sample water, and a correlation calculation unit finds a correlation with respect to each of a plurality of COD conversion equations calculated by the COD conversion equation calculation unit.

  • Publication number: 20070254374
Abstract: Disclosed is a water quality analyzer, which comprises a total organic carbon (TOC) measurement section for converting a carbon component in an aqueous sample to carbon dioxide and measuring an amount of the carbon dioxide, a conductivity measurement section for measuring a conductivity of an aqueous sample, a gas aeration mechanism for passing a degassing gas devoid of carbon dioxide gas through an aqueous sample to perform a degassing treatment of expelling carbon dioxide gas in the aqueous sample, and a control section for controlling respective operations of TOC measurement and conductivity measurement. The control section is operable, just before measuring a conductivity of a specific aqueous sample during the conductivity measurement for the specific aqueous sample, to controllably instruct the gas aeration mechanism to pass the degassing gas through the specific aqueous sample so as to perform the degassing treatment.

  • Patent number: 6797237
Abstract: In an analyzer, an oxidation reagent is supplied to an oxidation reaction portion, and after organic materials contained in the oxidation reagent are removed by oxidation decomposition, a sample is provided into the oxidation reaction portion to react with the oxidation reagent. An infrared gas analyzing portion starts detecting a peak for analyzing. Thus, even if a concentration of the component to be measured in the sample is low, the concentration can be measured accurately without being disturbed by a concentration of the impurities in the oxidation reagent.
