  • Patent number: 11934005
Abstract: There is provided a method of manufacturing an optical connector, including: preparing a multi-core optical fiber including a glass fiber and a resin coating that covers the glass fiber; inserting the glass fiber exposed from the resin coating into the ferrule such that the glass fiber protrudes from an end surface of a ferrule by a length A; rotating and aligning the multi-core optical fiber with respect to the ferrule; fixing the multi-core optical fiber to the ferrule; and so as to scrap off a tip end of the ferrule by a length. A deviation angle in the circumferential direction between a first initial end surface of the one end of the prepared glass fiber and a cross section of the glass fiber separated from the initial end surface by a length A+B mm is equal to or less than 0.9°.

  • Publication number: 20230106774
Abstract: An optical waveguide device that enables single-mode coupling between cores to be coupled by controlling optical signal intensity variation due to an MPI. The optical waveguide device includes a first device end surface, a second device end surface, a waveguide, and a cladding layer. The waveguide has a first waveguide end surface and a second waveguide end surface, and light beams of a plurality of modes having different orders are guided. Further, the waveguide has one or more bent portions. The cladding layer has a refractive index lower than a refractive index of the waveguide. The waveguide has a waveguide length L of 5×106 [nm] or more and 100×106 [nm] or less, and has a structure in which an inter-mode group delay time difference ??1 satisfies a condition given by |??1|?½×10?12 [s]/L.

  • Publication number: 20220413221
Abstract: The disclosure relates to an optical connection device reducing a connection loss between an SCF and an MCF. The optical connection device includes plural relay fibers and a capillary having third and fourth end faces. Each relay fiber includes a first core of ?1, a second core of ?2, and a cladding of ?3. The capillary includes a tapered portion with an outer diameter ratio R of the fourth end face to the third end face of 0.2 or less. In each relay fiber, a value of Formula (V2?V1)/R falls within a range from 156% ?m2 to 177% ?m2, V1 (% ?m2) is given by (?·r1b2)×(?1??2) by using a radius r1b (?m) of the first core, and V2 (% ?m2) is given by (?·r2b2)×(?1??2) by using a radius r2b (?m) of the second core.

  • Patent number: 11137553
Abstract: An optical fiber array includes: a multicore optical fiber in which the outer peripheral shape of cladding in a cross section has first and second convex surfaces symmetric with respect to a first axis, and first and second surfaces symmetric with respect to a second axis and closer than extensions of the first and second convex surfaces to the second axis; an arrangement component including a groove having a trapezoidal shape having first and second side surfaces mutually facing such that sectional shapes become closer toward a grove bottom, and a bottom surface; and a pressing member. With the first surface in surface contact with the pressing member, the first convex surface or a boundary portion between the first convex surface and the second surface, and the second convex surface or a boundary portion between the second surface and the second convex surface are in contact with the first and second side surfaces, respectively.
