  • Patent number: 8836767
Abstract: An imaging apparatus and an imaging method, wherein a focus location direction discriminator estimates a direction toward a focus location based on two contrast evaluation values corresponding to two imaging optical systems having different image focusing locations. Therefore, the imaging apparatus and the imaging method can directly start an AF operation at current image focusing locations of two imaging optical systems, without setting the image focusing locations to fixed initial locations in a focusing operation of the imaging optical systems. As a result, AF operation time and power consumption are reduced without failing to find a direction of image focusing location.

  • Publication number: 20140184888
Abstract: A digital photographing apparatus includes a focus lens, a focus detection unit that detects focus in a contrast auto focusing (AF) method by moving the focus lens, and a controller that calculates a velocity of a subject from a first focus detection result and a second focus detection result in a continuous shooting operation. The controller restricts a U-turn driving for correcting backlash of the focus lens when the calculated velocity of the subject is equal to or greater than a predetermined value. An AF initiating location and a final correction operation are adaptively adjusted based on the velocity of the subject in each process of the continuous shooting, thereby improving an AF performance and the continuous photographing speed.

  • Publication number: 20140183971
Abstract: An automatic tuning assist circuit is coupled with a transmission antenna. The transmission antenna injects a first correction current into, or otherwise draws the first correction current from, the transmission antenna. In the first state, the first auxiliary coil is coupled with the transmission antenna. In this state, the first correction current IA, which corresponds to a current that flows through the first auxiliary coil, is injected into or drawn from the transmission antenna. In the second state, the first auxiliary coil is decoupled from the transmission antenna. In this state, the current that flows through the first auxiliary coil flows through a current path which is independent of the transmission antenna. The state is switched between the first state and the second state with the same frequency as that of the driving voltage.

  • Publication number: 20140097843
Abstract: There is disclosed an NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance) spinner having a turbine structure and a rotor whose spinning rate can be increased. A vortical channel (44) is formed around the rotor (12). The vortical channel (44) consists of a chamber (66) and a nozzle array (68) mounted inside the chamber (66). The chamber (66) has a cross-sectional area that decreases in an upstream to downstream direction. The cross-sectional area of each nozzle also decreases in an upstream to downstream direction. Gas is introduced into the chamber (66), creating a rotating flow (76, 78, 80) in the chamber (66). Plural inwardly swirling streams are created from the inside of the rotating flow. The inwardly swirling streams are ejected from the exits of the nozzles. This results in jet streams, which are blown against the impeller of the rotor, spinning the rotor at high speed.
