  • Patent number: 7575031
Abstract: A heavy duty radial tire comprises a belt layer having first and third plies of cords arranged at an angle of 10 to 45° relative to the tire equator, and a second ply of cords arranged at an angle of at most 5° relative to the tire equator, the widths W1 and W3 of the first and third plies are at least 85% of a ground contact width Tw and the width W2 of the second ply is at least 70% of the width Tw and is smaller than the widths W1 and W3; and a pair of reinforcing rubber layers disposed between the first and third plies so as to extend axially outwardly from the axially outer ends of the second ply comprising an axially inner portion having E*1 of 8.0 to 14.0 MPa, and an axially outer portion having E*2 of 6.0 to 12.0 MPa smaller than E*1.

  • Publication number: 20070113946
Abstract: A heavy duty tire having improved resistances to uneven wear and cracking at groove bottom without impairing durability, comprising a belt layer having first and third plies of cords arranged at an angle of 10 to 45° relative to the tire equator, a second ply of cords arranged at an angle of at most 5° relative to the tire equator, and optionally a fourth ply disposed radially outward of the third ply wherein the widths W1 and W3 of the first and third plies are at least 85% of a ground contact width Tw and the width W2 of the second ply is at least 70% of the width Tw and is smaller than the widths W1 and W3, and preferably the difference W1?W3 is at least 14 mm; and a pair of reinforcing rubber layers disposed between the first and third belt plies so as to extend axially outwardly from the axially outer ends of the second belt ply wherein each reinforcing rubber layer comprises an axially inner portion having a complex elastic modulus E*1 of 8.0 to 14.

  • Publication number: 20010013385
Abstract: A pneumatic tire comprises a tread portion, a pair of sidewall portions, a pair of bead portions, and a carcass ply of steel cords extending between the bead portions through the tread portion and sidewall portions. Each of the carcass cords comprises a number “n” of steel filaments each having a diameter (d) of from 0.17 to 0.40 mm. The steel filaments are twisted together to have a “1×n” bundle-twist structure or an interlace-twist structure. In a vicinity of the maximum tire section width point P of each of the sidewall portions, a sectional shape coefficient S of each carcass cord is set in a range of from 0.5 to 0.

  • Patent number: 5840237
Abstract: A pallet for raw cover tire has a circular bottom plate, and a supporting portion provided to a periphery of the bottom plate and supporting one of outer side surfaces of side walls of a raw cover tire. The supporting portion has a first receiving surface of a cone form inclining downwardly toward the bottom plate at an angle .alpha. to the bottom plate, and a second receiving surface of a cone form extending upwardly from an upper edge of the first receiving surface at an angle .beta. smaller than the angle .alpha..

  • Patent number: 5800642
Abstract: A pneumatic tire, a tire making method and a tire vulcanizing mold are disclosed. The tire has a pair of rounded or tapered shoulder portions each of which is provided with a circumferentially extending narrow groove for improving the wandering performance. The mold is provided with a tread molding face and shoulder molding faces. Each of the shoulder molding faces is provided with a protrusion for forming the above-mentioned narrow groove. The protrusion is provided with slits for forming thin partition walls in the narrow groove. The tread molding face is provided with vent holes. And vent grooves each of which extends from one of the slits in the shoulder molding face into the tread molding face is provided. As a result, no spue is formed in the tire shoulder portions and the tire appearance is improved. And the productivity can be improved.
