  • Patent number: 5626518
Abstract: A torque absorbing device includes a hub member having a flange portion, plate members disposed around a hub portion of the hub member so as to be positioned opposite the flange portion in the axial direction, a plurality of torsion members elastically interconnecting the hub member and the plate members in the circumferential direction of the disc, and a plurality of seat members each of which is disposed among each of the torsion members, the plate members and the hub member. Each seat member has one side face portion contacting the circumferential end surface of each of the torsion members and the other side face portion contacting the plate members and the flange portion of the hub member. The other face portion is provided with a projected holding portion held on the flange portion of the hub member so as not to be able to move relative to the hub member and a guide portion nipping the flange portion of the hub member in the axial direction of the disc.

  • Patent number: 5148904
Abstract: A clutch cover assembly comprises an annular clutch cover, a pressure plate connected to the clutch cover, a diaphragm spring elastically disposed between the pressure plate and the clutch cover and supported circumferentially and radially to the clutch cover by a supporting member inserted into a hole formed therein and supported axially to the clutch cover through an annular member located between the inner wall of the clutch cover and the one end of the supporting member. The diaphragm spring is used for biasing the external portion of the pressure plate in the opposite direction to the clutch cover. A spring member includes an outer periphery which is located at an inward of the annular member and which is attached to the clutch cover and, an inner periphery which is located at a further inward of the outer periphery and which is attached to the diaphragm spring.

  • Patent number: 5104240
Abstract: There is disclosed an improved release bearing assembly that is component of the pull-type clutch cover of a friction clutch mounted in an automobile. The release bearing assembly comprises a bearing body capable of moving axially within a given range, a retainer ring holding a diaphragm spring, a sleeve disposed between the bearing body and the ring, several resilient sheets extending from the flange of the sleeve axially of the sleeve, fingers formed at the front ends of the resilient sheets, and a release groove formed in the outer surface of the sleeve. The resilient sheets are circumferentially spaced from each other. The sleeve can slide on the bearing body between a first position and a second position. In the first position that is close to the retainer ring, the sleeve clamps the ring against the bearing body via the fingers. In the second position, the resilient sheets can play within a release groove formed in the bearing body, so that the ring disengages from the bearing body.

  • Patent number: 5092442
Abstract: A clutch cover assembly includes a cover connected to an input drive member, a pressure plate arranged in and connected to the cover, a clutch disk disposed between the pressure plate and the input drive member, a diaphragm spring disposed between the cover and the pressure plate and biasing the pressure plate in the direction of the clutch disk, and a stopper provided at an inward bent portion of the cover and preventing the diaphragm spring from moving in the direction of the clutch disk by more than a certain stroke. The diaphragm spring is prevented from pressing on the clutch disk when the clutch facing is damaged.
