  • Patent number: 6129089
Abstract: A cosmetic case comprised of a main case into which a removable sealed refill container can be installed. The main case is comprised of a main hinge on which a main case cover pivots, a latch able to hold the main case cover closed, a perimeter wall located between the main hinge and latch, and a cutout space which is provided to enclose the hinge of the internally installed refill container. The cutout space is formed within the inner surface of the perimeter wall but does not extend to the outer surface, thereby hiding the refill container hinge from an external view of the cosmetic case. The refill container includes a hinged cover and latch mechanism to hold the cover closed against the refill container body. A single action release mechanism is provided to simultaneously or sequentially open the main case latch and refill container latch.

  • Patent number: 6021784
Abstract: A cosmetic case including a container and cover part connected by a hinged joint, in which the hinge pin is formed of the same synthetic resin as the container and cover parts. The hinged joint is formed by hinge blocks (integrally formed on the container part) pivotably connecting to a hinge body (integrally formed on the cover part) by a hinge pin inserted through a round bore formed through the hinge blocks and hinge body. The synthetic resin hinge pin is a concentric three layer structure in radial cross section in which the outer and inner layers are joined by an adhesive middle layer. A collar flange and center bore are formed on the hinge block and hinge body, respectively, around the hinge pin.

  • Patent number: 5992426
Abstract: A portable cosmetic container basically comprised of a container, cover, and hinge pin, all fabricated from synthetic resin to allow the container to be recycled as a completely plastic item while providing a stable free-stop function. The hinge structure includes a hinge pin inserted within a continuous bore formed in a hinge block integrally formed on the cover part, and a hinge body integrally formed on the container part. Applying friction to said hinge pin maintains the cover at any angular open position through friction between the hinge pin and hinge block hole by a slight interference fit between the hinge pin and hole. Splines are gouged in the hinge block hole to prevent rotation of said hinge pin. The spline fixedly secures the hinge pin within the hinge body through interference fit joint.

  • Patent number: 5702666
Abstract: A method for making a sheet button panel assembly that can avoid wrinkles at boundaries of embossments and damages on a printed face of a decorative sheet. The method includes the steps of embossing the decorative sheet where only one mold contacts the portions of the decorative sheet to which embossments are formed and where the decorative sheet is heated, and injecting resin into a cavity to form a sheet button panel assembly in which the decorative sheet and the resin are made united. When embossing the decorative sheet, the decorative sheet is softened by heating and is less restricted because only one mold contacts the sheet. The decorative sheet is free of wrinkle and damage, in particular, no damages in printed face of the decorative sheet.
