  • Patent number: 10959670
Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods for determining or quantifying tinnitus conditions within a patient, including determining if a patient has some form of tinnitus as well as categorizing or determining the severity of a tinnitus condition, if present. The described systems and methods are also useful in evaluating the efficacy a tinnitus treatment by measuring the degree of reduction of tinnitus symptoms in a patient. The described systems and methods also provide a personalized profile for each specific patient, allowing for more effective treatment options as various forms or causes of tinnitus become apparent.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 20, 2018
Date of Patent: March 30, 2021
Assignee: The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois
Inventors: Fatima T. Husain, Yuliy Baryshnikov, Benjamin Joseph Zimmerman, Ivan Thomas Abraham

  • Patent number: 8818701
Abstract: A method is provided for estimating distances between sensor nodes. The method includes receiving a temporal sequence of measurements of a selected local environmental condition from each of the sensor nodes. The method includes determining an amount of correlation between the measurements of the selected local environmental condition that were received from two or more of the sensor nodes. The method also includes estimating distances between the two or more of the sensor nodes based on the determined amount of correlation.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 9, 2012
Date of Patent: August 26, 2014
    Assignee: Alcatel Lucent
    Inventor: Yuliy Baryshnikov
  • Patent number: 8355324
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and apparatus for filtering received data packets. A hierarchical tree is maintained. The tree includes nodes organized in a plurality of levels. Each level above a root node of the tree has one or more of the nodes, with each of the one or more of the nodes corresponding to a particular value of a segment of an Internet Protocol (IP) address. The segment is the same for each node of a particular level of the tree. Each node at a particular level of the tree stores a number representative of the number of received packets having the same value for the segment of the IP address associated with the particular level. Some of the received data packets are filtered out based on the hierarchical tree.

  • Publication number: 20090055238
Abstract: A meeting location that is “fair” to all the participants may be selected based on at least the travel circumstances and at least two initial criteria by which an optimal meeting location will be selected, at least one of which has values that are determined for each respective one of the meeting participants using at least information derived from the travel circumstances. Note that by “fair” it is generally intended that no participant can reduce his burden without significantly increasing the burden of some other participant. The meeting location may be determined using a multi-criterial approach. A criterion in this context is a particular property of the travel pertaining to a particular user. In the multi-criterial approach, one selects a preference relation based on each of the individual criteria, and the set of non-dominated alternatives is the outcome of the optimization process.
